Brookfield Properties is looking for a Senior Accountant to support all Accounting functions related to the SPACE+ business. This role will interact across the U.S., with all regional accounting teams. The role will be a mixture of property accounting and corporate accounting.
This is a highly entrepreneurial role for an organized self-starter who works comfortably in ambiguous circumstances, proactively seeks solutions to issues, and is excited to influence related operating processes while working closely with the entire SPACE+ team.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Review general ledger activity and prepare monthly closing documents including financial statement packages, accruals, and billing forms
- Assist in the development of standard control procedures for proper review and sign-off of monthly activities not limited to accounts receivable, general ledger accruals, accounts payable and reporting packages
- Monitor cash balances and prepare monthly bank reconciliations
- Prepare income and expense reconciliations for tenant and non-tenant billings
- Prepare ad-hoc accounts receivable billing package
- Prepare rent roll billing for services agreements set-up with tenants or other Brookfield properties
- Review invoice processing in Yardi and maintain a tracker for timely processing of vendor invoices
- Review coding of invoices in Yardi
- Prepare capital call packages for construction projects
- Maintain project tracker checklist with all projects and their phase of cycle as necessary for payroll allocations
- Maintain project tracker with key points of contact and for billing processing
- Maintain services agreement tracker and document tax considerations as communicated by the tax team
- Review new agreements and be the liaison with the technical accounting team to understand the impact on the business for a US GAAP and IFRS reporting perspective
- Prepare weekly time allocation tracker and process allocations through the payroll allocation process
- Assist with preparation of quarterly reporting deck
- Assist with systems set-up in Yardi
Your Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting; CPA preferred
- Knowledge of commercial real estate
- 2-3 years of experience of public accounting and/or commercial real estate accounting
- Experience with Yardi or similar ERP
- Strong ability to analyze and problem solve to meet business needs
- Ability to communicate well
Compensation:
Salary Type: Exempt
Pay Frequency: Bi-weekly
Annual Base Salary Range: $100k-$110k
