The Development team works collaboratively with the different vertical directors, faculty, operations, and the CCL enterprise to provide high-quality, high-impact leadership solutions to our clients.
General Summary
This role will perform accounting functions requiring a thorough knowledge GAAP and general accounting methods, principles and practices. Ensure reporting compliance to various regulatory agencies such as U.S. federal, state, and local governments, as well as certain foreign governments. Maintain accurate fixed asset accounting records. Prepare various financial reports on a periodic basis, i.e. consolidated balance sheet, cash analysis report. Leads the budgeting and forecasting function for certain departments. Collaborate with the Accounting Manager on a variety of projects and activities including support of the annual audit. Assist with strategic and functional initiatives.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Regulatory Reporting:
- Prepare all documentation required for filing the annual US tax return (Form 990)
- Prepare various personal property tax returns based on CCL's tax filing requirements schedule. i.e. San Diego County, Paso County (Colorado Springs)
- Prepare and submit the monthly Canadian Travel Remittance report. Remit payroll taxes due to the Canadian Revenue Authority (CRA).
- Prepare and submit the Canadian Sales Tax (GST/HST) report.
- Compile tax documentation for CCL U.S. employees traveling to Canada to work.
- Prepare all documentation required for filing the annual Canadian corporate tax return.
- File escheat reports to applicable states based on published deadlines.
- Prepare Colorado and California annual reports.
- Prepare the required Foreign Bank Account reports.
- Complete application for US Residency Certification.
Accounting and Reporting:
- Responsible for the accounting of key reserve and accrual accounts including medical insurance reserve, and allowance for doubtful accounts provision.
- Maintain payroll accounting and appropriate account reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly journal entries as needed in support of US and international accounting requirements.
Fixed Asset & Inventory Accounting:
- Maintain $71Million fixed asset ledger.
- Monthly ensure all asset purchases, disposals, and capitalized labor are recorded accurately.
- Prepare the monthly fixed asset depreciation journal entry.
- Collaborate with IT to monitor, review, and process capitalized labor transactions.
- Monitor, track, and review all inventory transactions.
- Collaborate with the Distribution team to conduct the periodic inventory process and report exceptions.
- Preparation of reports required for the annual audit.
Endowment Fund Accounting
- Review and reporting of $60 Million investment portfolio.
- Review, validation and recording of investment transactions in various funds.
- Assist in the preparation of reports required for year-end audit of investment partnership.
- Assist in the preparation of board reports and other summaries for ET and Senior Management.
Risk Management
- Coordinate comprehensive review of property and liability insurance policies.
- Point of contact with insurance brokers.
- Review and validation of monthly insurance premiums.
- Collaborate with Facilities Management team to ensure timely maintenance of certificates of liability insurance.
- Collaborate with Payroll Administrator to complete annual workers compensation audit.
Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare monthly the Consolidated Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statement.
- Prepare weekly the Consolidated Cash Analysis Report.
- Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts and research variances.
- Prepare monthly covenant certificate for financial institutions.
GL Maintenance
- Maintain chart of accounts.
- Create new foreign general ledger accounts in accounting system and map the accounts to the consolidation of the applicable foreign entity.
- Review consolidation tool for unmapped accounts.
Other:
- Prepare reports required for financial audits and management as needed.
- Assist in identification and development of process improvements.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- BA/BS in Accounting or Finance - required.
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) preferred.
- Minimum 5 years accounting or related experience.
- Strong PC skills to include Word and Excel.
- Thorough knowledge of general accounting methods, principles and practices and the ability to apply this knowledge in situations where procedures are not well defined.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where limited standardization exists with minimal assistance.
- Effective, professional verbal and written communication skills for interaction with employees, financial institutions and outside professional firms.
- Ability to focus on details and perform functions with accuracy. Must have experience working with computerized accounting systems.
- Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and supportive manner. Supports team environment through assisting and training co-workers to attain overall departmental goals.
Pay and Benefits
- The hiring range for this role is $78,000-$82,000. Offer will be commensurate with relevant qualifications and professional experience. Role is eligible for Sales Incentive.
