Senior Accountant, Corporate Accounting

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a hard-working, highly motivated Senior, Corporate Accounting to join our growing Accounting team! You will play a key role in the Accounting and Finance department during a dynamic period of high growth and process transformation. In this role, you and your team consisting of one direct report will be responsible for various work streams within the controllership organization, with a focus on fixed assets, and contributing to the development and implementation of standard methodologies within the accounting and financial reporting processes.
The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, external reporting processes, and internal controls, as well as a thorough understanding of Pelotonās multifaceted business. You are a demonstrated leader who excels in managing people and can exceed goals in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON
- Play an important role in the month-end financial statement close process by reviewing journal entries related to fixed assets and long lived intangibles, keeping team priorities on track while assisting staff, andĀ working with various cost centers throughout the organization to acquire relevant information
- Take ownership and responsibility of reviewing monthly account reconciliations for areas including fixed assets and intangible assets,Ā inspecting other operating expenses for capitalization.
- Responsible for the completeness and accuracy of the NetAsset Fixed Asset subledger
- Coach and Develop staff accountant on the team by engaging in regular feedback sessions and helping to create their development plans
- Assist in implementing accounting policies and procedures to ensure all financial transactions are carried out in accordance with GAAP principles
- Review and approve journal entries and GL reconciliations prepared by staff accountant on a monthly basis.Ā Provide constructive feedback on these regularly
- Perform a detailed review of expense accounts for proper accruals, coding, and accounting
- Investigate reporting discrepancies/anomalies and communicate issues as they arise in a timely manner
- Review existing processes, structures, and systems to assist in the identification of improvement opportunities with a focus on simplification, standardization, and optimization, especially the reduction of manual, Excel-based activities
- Partner with other departments, including SECTA, IT, and the FP&A team and business department owners to improve develop a strong professional relationship to ensure that all stakeholder needs are addressed timely and effectively
- Continually develop, expand and improve month-end close and financial reporting procedures and help drive the reduction of the close timeline by assessing and streamlining close-related activities
- Collaborate with suppliers of information to obtain required data timely
- Support the year-end financial statement audit, as well as any statutory audits that may arise
- Be the right hand to the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting with other responsibilities including participation and management of special projects, ERP enhancements, internal controls, and ad hoc analyses as requested
YOU BRING TO PELOTON
- 4+ years of relevant accounting experience, with a mix of private and public accounting experience preferred
- Education and/or comparable professional experience in Accounting or related field
- Active CPA license in good standing or extensive understanding of US GAAP and SOX
- Proven track record coaching and developing the careers of direct reports
- Experience with a Big 4 firm or Mid-Sized CPA firm and/or SEC-registered company
- Must be a highly organized, meticulous self-starter with the ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Experience managing ambiguity and comfort with change
- Able to work effectively with all levels of an organization and manage relationships with external parties
- Strong Excel skills - must be comfortable analyzing and manipulating large data sets
- Outstanding problem-solving skills and ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines
- Experience with Netsuite and/or Blackline preferred, or experience with similar ERP or fixed asset subledger
- Industry experience in SaaS-based technology companies, retail, consumer products, and/or media a plus
- Experience in a high growth organization

Base Salary: $88,600.00Ā to $115,200.00
The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for this position based at our New York City headquarters. The actual base salary offered for this position will depend on numerous factors including individual performance, business objectives, and if the location for the job changes.
