At the very core

The ideal Senior Accountant, Expenses has Software as a Service (SaaS) accounting experience in a multi-entity, international company with expertise in ASC 842 Leases and exposure to ASC 606 Revenue Recognition, specifically contract assets and liabilities. The Senior Accountant, Expenses will be a cross-functional communication superstar with the desire to mentor staff accountants and grow into a management position. This position is expected to support team and Company initiatives proactively and enthusiastically, including process improvement and growth, in a fast-paced and acquisitive environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Participate in the month-end close process to produce high-quality financials, maintaining excellent communication with the Finance and leadership teams throughout, creating journal entries and reviewing staff accountants' journal entries

• Reconcile key balance sheet accounts and identify and resolve exposures

• Review staff accountants' reconciliations and provide mentorship and guidance to improve work quality and support their career progression

• Ensure compliance with ASC 842 across all business units

• Perform flux analysis and obtain detailed understanding of transactions/activities recorded to accounts, ensuring proper accounting is being applied and providing variance explanations with business drivers; present flux analysis to CFO and other leaders in the Finance organization

• Prepare high-quality PBCs for external audits, including statutory and GAAP

• Support M&A activities including integration of expense-related processes

• Document existing accounting policy and optimize processes and ERP functionality to ensure compliance

• Assist Tax Manager with tax-related projects

• Assist with cash or banking analysis, needs and requirements

• Identify areas for improvement, including process or control weaknesses, communicate to management, and implement changes to enhance the control environment and mitigate risk

• Critical projects for this role include

o Participating in the consolidation of billing platforms project, including automating revenue recognition and accounting journals

o Establishing appropriate cadence and controls for intercompany accounting, including validating historical intercompany balances

o Optimizing use of the accounting software to reduce manual and offline journals and reconciliations

o Reviewing and documenting accounting treatment and policies for various aspects of the business, from fixed assets to revenue recognition

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

• B.S. or B.A. in Accounting or equivalent; Master's preferred

• Experience with payment processing and/or software-as-a-service industries

• 5+ years' experience in accounting, including General Ledger, Consolidations, and Balance Sheet reconciliation

• 1+ years of mentorship and reviewing others' work

• Thorough understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

• Professional communication skills

• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to make sound decisions and take calculated risks

BUT GREAT TO HAVE:

• Workday ERP experience

• Experience understanding accounting system functionality and working with developers to optimize and/or create new functionality

• CPA and/or equivalent certification

• Accounting guidance research, documentation, and policy refresh/implementation

• Mergers & Acquisitions experience

• Private equity background
