POSITION SUMMARY

The GL Senior Accountant will be responsible for a variety of advanced monthly accounting tasks and assisting in the review of work performed by accounting staff in service of our Resorts’ month-end close. This role will serve as an individual contributor, as well as in a review capacity of staff work. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, maintaining a critical approach to problem-solving and the ability to build meaningful relationships across resorts and within Shared Services.

This position will report to the GL Accounting Manager and will serve as a primary point of contact for resort senior leadership to Shared Services Accounting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Support Resorts’ monthly close processes for areas of responsibility which include preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses
  • Proactively identify, propose, and implement process improvements to ensure timely monthly close, accuracy of financial data, and operational efficiencies
  • Engage in proactive research and resolution to unexplained reconciling items, defining and implementing process improvements as a result of solutions
  • Perform analytical analyses for management
  • Monitor transactional compliance with GAAP as well as company policy and procedures
  • Develop accounting process memos which analyze transactions and draw conclusions based on relevant accounting guidance as provided in the FASB Accounting Standards Codification

  • Actively coach and mentor 1-2 direct reports, and assist the Accounting Manager with accounting staff workflow, priority setting, training needs, and professional development
  • Ensure all internal control documentation and compliance related to the above responsibilities is properly prepared
  • Participate in external audits as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge

  • Detailed understanding of US GAAP and experience in applying to various transactions and fact patterns
  • Detailed understanding of shared services delivery models
  • Proficient in use of technology, specifically Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required; preference towards accounting, finance or other related field
  • CPA license preferred

Experience

  • 2+ years of relevant accounting experience; a combination of public and industry-specific experience preferred
  • Experience with financial system implementations is a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, Blackline, or OneStream is a plus

Denver area base salary range: $80,000 - $112,00 per year
