Senior Accountant - Hybrid

JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a hands-on Sr Accountant to manage accounting operations for our Rules Based Medicine (RBM) business located in Austin, Texas. This position will play a key role in maintaining the accounting processes & procedures. This individual will be a remote functional leader and must have a strong ownership mentality, working closely and proactively with various business teams and leaders both on-site and remotely. The ideal candidate will prepare, analyze, and report financial information, oversee controls activities, and act as a strategic business partner.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ownership of month-end close process for the RBM business with timely and accurate review of all revenue, cost, expense, and Balance Sheet entries.
• Build strong rapport and communication channel with remote management team.
• Assist with customer invoicing and vendor payment issues as needed.
• Provide appropriate level of decision support to business partners.
• Participate in accounting system integration activities, ensuring financial data flows accurately between various systems and ledgers.
• Review/document financial systems and processes seeking efficiency improvements.
• Ensure timely and comprehensive completion of account reconciliations, promptly following up and resolving open items.
• Provide timely compliance support for audit, Sarbanes-Oxley, tax, and similar activities.
• Participate in or lead accounting/finance related projects as needed.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in accounting
• Master of Accounting degree and/or Certified Public Accountant license preferred.
• 5-7 years in Accounting Experience

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Strong technical accounting skills
• Experience with ERPs, PeopleSoft system preferred
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience with Lean Six Sigma or similar quality improvement processes a plus.
• Strong analytical skills and business acumen
• Self-starter with ability to prioritize and execute on multiple projects to meet deadlines
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to effectively interact with remote management team
• Ability to identify and communicate financial issues and execute mitigating actions
• Experience in clinical research and lab operations or in an industry with inventory and cost accounting is beneficial
