Job Description
The Senior Accountant, Trading Accounting & Reporting position is primarily responsible for the preparation of all accounting and reporting, and related internal control processes and procedures for BOK Financial Capital Markets and BOK Financial Securities, Inc. including financial reports for various regulatory agencies including, but not limited to OCC, FDIC, FRB, SEC and FINRA. This position performs detailed data analytics, monitors and assists in developing and maintaining internal controls and policies and procedures over financial reporting. Performs assessments and technical research of changes to reporting standards and new business activities and provides financial and management information and analysis, as directed.

How You'll Spend Your Time
- You will prepare financial statements and disclosures for FOCUS SEC forms 10-Q and 10-K and annual BOKFS standalone financial statements. You will also prepare moderate to complex level financial statements and supporting data for monthly, quarterly, and annual FINRA reports while coordinating data collection across a variety of functions organization-wide. You will ensure reports are prepared in conformity with regulatory accounting principles and address feedback and inquiries from executive management.
- You will collect, examine, and analyze detailed data and supporting documentation for routine and ad hoc financial reports which require a high order of analytical, interpretive and/or constructive thinking in varied situations. You will interact confidently with front-office traders, line of business management, operational support personnel, and other finance and risk management stakeholders to accurately interpret data. At times you may work independently with limited guidance from senior team members and have discretion to vary from established procedures to efficiently and accurately achieve reporting objectives.
- You will analyze the effectiveness of programs and recommend changes in accounting policies and procedures to meet goals and objectives; including recommending enhanced controls and/or efficiencies while actively identifying and leading projects to automate data extraction and report generation in order to keep pace with consistently increasing reporting volumes and complexity.
- You will be responsible for keeping current on changes to GAAP reporting requirements along with FINRA rule changes and performing technical research related to proposed and current changes in reporting, analyzing system capabilities, the impact of changes upon existing data gathering processes, and leading the implementation of changes as necessary. You will research and coordinate the resolution of errors or irregularities and respond to inquiries regarding financial reporting issues and internal controls from management, auditors, and regulatory authorities. You will work frequently and directly with business line management to ensure proper documentation is being received for related reports.
- You will perform monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and initiate journal entries to record transactions as appropriate; including monitoring reconciliation items and seeking resolution for items which have not been resolved in a timely manner.
Education & Experience Requirements
This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and 5+ years combined experience in a bank or in public accounting firm serving bank clients, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be a Certified Public Accountant or candidate actively pursuing certification. Achievement of Financial Operations Principal license (Series 27) and Operations Professional license (Series 99) within 1 year of hire is expected for continued performance in this position. Other relevant certifications may also be considered.
- Advanced understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and regulatory accounting principles (RAP)
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of banking rules, regulations and operations
- Excellent PC, spreadsheet and database skills.
- Knowledge of data administration, relational database development, multi-dimensional databases, GUI tools and SQL processing preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of bank systems and operations
- Ability to research and understand technical issues in accounting literature and regulations.
- Ability to interact with all levels of personnel and to understand and explain complex banking and financial reporting topics .
