Senior Accountant (m/f/d)

Position Summary

The senior accountant evaluates complex transactions and records them to the general ledger as necessary to ensure financials are accurate and complete. Responsible for the completion of complex balance sheet reconciliations and income statement analysis. Identifies areas of concern and proposes improvements or courses of action.

It requires the ability to proactively work with a large degree of autonomy, ensuring all business-critical items are actioned and all deadlines are adhered to.

Excellent communication with suppliers, staff (particularly via telephone & email) and colleagues is critical to the successful undertaking of this role, as well as keeping the Finance Manager informed of all pertinent aspects and maintaining the LivaNova mantra of operating in a no surprise environment.

General Responsibilities

• Managing intercompany transactions and reconciliations
• Maintaining accruals and prepayments
• Managing lease accounting
• Preparation and submission of the Intrastat reports
• Support capex reporting
• Maintaining general ledger by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies
• Assisting with internal and external audits
• Preparation of VAT and other tax returns in compliance with the local regulations
• Preparation of the financial statements and annual reports
• Monthly closing reporting and review
• Ensure compliance with local GAAP principles
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data
• Collaborating with the finance teams of the LivaNova group to ensure consistency in financial processes and reporting
• Supporting ad-hoc projects and financial analyses as needed

Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree - Accounting Qualification
• It is essential to have a detailed working knowledge of accounting system software
• Strong understanding of German accounting principles and tax regulations
• Experience with preparation and filing of statutory financial statements
• Excellent communicator across all levels of the organisation and with external customers
• Must be a team player, self-motivated, reliable and proactive, with the ability to take the initiative where necessary
• Prior SAP experience preferred but not essential
• Must have high competence in the use of Excel and be proficient in all other elements of the Microsoft Office suite (including email)
• Excellent organisational skills are essential
• Must be able to prioritise work effectively in response to rapidly changing circumstances
• Fluent in German and English language
• Can work under pressure, with tight deadlines, always remaining courteous and professional
