This role sits within a dynamic accounting function supporting complex, multi-entity operations in a global maritime and logistics environment. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, robust month-end close processes, and compliance with ASPE and IFRS standards. The position plays a key role in maintaining financial integrity across multiple systems while supporting both statutory reporting and internal management reporting. You will collaborate closely with finance, operations, and commercial teams in a highly cross-functional setting. The role also involves working on joint venture accounting, audit support, and continuous improvement of accounting processes and controls. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented accounting professional looking to contribute to a large-scale, international organization with a strong focus on sustainability and operational excellence.

Accountabilities:

  • Manage the month-end close process for assigned entities, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting across multiple systems.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, consolidated results, and statutory reporting in accordance with ASPE and IFRS standards.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including accruals, overheads, operating expenses, fuel, and trade-related costs.
  • Record and analyze equity income from joint venture arrangements and ensure proper accounting treatment.
  • Support year-end audit activities, including preparation of schedules, documentation, impairment analysis, and technical accounting papers.
  • Ensure accurate system integration and reconciliation across platforms such as Oracle, IMOS, and Concur.
  • Maintain insurance claims accounting records and ensure supporting documentation is complete and audit-ready.
  • Contribute to process improvements, internal controls enhancement, and efficiency initiatives within the accounting function.
  • Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analysis to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; CPA designation preferred.
    • 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally within a large or complex organizational environment.
    • Strong knowledge of ASPE and IFRS accounting standards with hands-on financial reporting experience.
    • Advanced Excel skills; experience with Oracle and Power BI is considered an asset.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, statutory reporting, and audit support.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial insights to non-finance stakeholders.
    • Ability to manage large datasets, meet strict deadlines, and operate in a structured, process-driven environment.
    • Team-oriented mindset with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive compensation aligned with experience and industry standards
      • Comprehensive health, dental, and life insurance coverage
      • Employer-sponsored pension (RRSP) plan for long-term financial security
      • Hybrid work model with flexibility to work from home up to 2 days per week
      • Bonus program and additional performance-based incentives
      • Gym membership allowance and wellness-focused benefits
      • Learning and development opportunities for continuous professional growth
      • Inclusive, diverse, and collaborative work environment
