Senior Accountant - Remote
Job Description
Medisolv is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join the Finance team to take on the corporate payroll function along with other high-visibility general accounting activities. This position requires a professional who demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of accounting practices and procedures, independent problem-solving and analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

- Lead the payroll for 100+ employees including but not limited to:
- Review employee timesheets for regular and exception hours in line with pay period calendar
- Process miscellaneous earnings and deductions including commissions, bonuses, expense reimbursements, 401(k) contributions, garnishments, and retroactive corrections
- Coordinate setup of new system codes to facilitate employee pay such as new type of earnings, new benefit deduction, new employee tax withholding, or new employer tax expense
- Reconcile payroll direct deposit and tax payments to payable and liability accounts
- Prepare complex Excel-driven journal entries to upload semi-monthly payroll runs as well as monthly payroll and paid time-off accruals
- Maintain payroll compliance with states and local jurisdictions
- Assist with the preparation, maintenance and tracking of all payroll filings including 940s, 941s, and W2s
- Assist with month-end closing process including but not limited to:
- Prepare and post complex Excel-driven revenue and expense journal entries
- Proactively review transactional detail to ensure proper adherence to accounting procedures
- Complete accurate and timely balance sheet reconciliations including accruals, prepaid expenses, deferred revenue, unbilled revenue, and fixed assets
- Assist with company annual audit
- Assist with special projects as necessary
- Actively participate in upcoming ERP implementation
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance
- Advanced knowledge of Excel including working familiarity in summarizing and manipulating large data sets using lookups, filters, index, data validation, text to columns, etc.
- Proficient in implementing Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Successful completion of a pre-employment background check
- Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks and/or other accounting/ERP systems
- Proficiency with UKG and/or other payroll accounting software
- Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment, prioritize appropriately, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Knowledge of ASC-606 revenue recognition and experience in SaaS environment
- CPA (non-active license acceptable) and/or MBA
