Senior Accountant (Remote Based)

Role Overview: Senior Accountant - Fully Remote

Ankura is looking for a Senior Accounting Associate to join our global, high growth firm. Our Finance team works remotely, however our culture is highly collaborative. This role will utilize technology, to drive efficiencies and provide leadership with data driven insights. This role will assist with technical accounting, play a critical role in day-to-day accounting activities, month-end close, revenue reporting, contract review, financial reporting processes and the presentation of financial results. This role is mainly remote for the majority of the time, but we prefer the candidate to be based in the greater Washington D.C. area to allow for occasional trips to our Washington D.C. office. This role will hold key relationships within Finance and with client-facing business groups within the firm, as well as interface with our external tax and audit teams.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
• Generate and/or review journal entries and accruals for month-end close
• Oversee and manage the general ledger
• Prepare general ledger account reconciliation and analysis
• Assist with providing Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) supporting data for the preparation of the annual budget
• Perform data analysis on transactions activity
• Partner cross-functionally with the finance teams, other support functions and the business
• Account for various key areas like bad debt reserves, intercompany, leases, accruals, debt
• Consolidation of Legal Entities
• Participate in cross-functional and ad-hoc projects with various teams, help drive key system initiatives and improvements
• Analyze monthly activity fluctuations and present on trends to finance leadership
• Prepare/review audit schedules and workpaper documents, address auditor questions and escalate issues as needed
• Research relevant accounting literature and provide technical guidance to ensure accounting accuracy

Qualifications:

• BA/BS in Accounting
• 2-3 years of experience in large public accounting firm
• Thorough knowledge of US GAAP
• CPA license a plus
• Good working knowledge of cloud enterprise resources planning (ERP) systems
• Workday experience desired, Blackline experience desired
• Technical accounting research experience
• Excellent analytical and technical skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to multi-task, and meet competing deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced work environment
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis in Excel using pivot tables, v-lookups, and formulas in working with large amounts of transactional data
• Experience with Power Pivot, Power BI, and /or Alteryx is a plus
• Self-motivated and self-managed - able to think independently, creatively and opportunistically
