Job Description
We are looking for an organized, detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our growing, distributed team at Coforma.

$147,290 to $165,830 Annual Salary + Benefits + Growth Potential
Placement within this range will be based on the competency level of the candidate. An offer will be made at one of the following tiers:
Tier 1: $147,290 — Meets minimum qualification/experience requirements. Beyond onboarding, will need additional guidance and training to perform key responsibilities of the role.
Tier 2: $156,560 — Experienced and fully-competent. Beyond onboarding, can independently perform key responsibilities of the role.
Tier 3: $165,830 — Highly-experienced and can perform all responsibilities of the role at a higher level than expected once onboarding is completed.
To honor our company-wide equitable pay system, the posted salary range and corresponding tier salaries are non-negotiable.

This is a US-based remote position open to applicants in the states listed below. Some travel may be required.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
- Spearhead the billing and cash collection process—create invoices according to company practices; submit invoices to customers; maintain and update customer files, including name or address changes; prepare, post, verify, and record customer payments and transactions; communicate with customers to request payment and arrange payment plans
- Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
- Support financial planning by forecasting cash
- Reconcile accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Analyze financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow) for discrepancies and alert the Controller/CFO if necessary
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
- Spot errors and suggest strategies to improve efficiency and spending
- Review and recommend modifications to Unanet accounting systems and procedures
- Provide input into the Finance department’s goal-setting process
- Prepare financial statements and support the budget/forecast process
- Prepare documentation and provide support for external audits to ensure compliance
- Assist with tax audits and tax returns
- Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
Who You Are (Requirements)
- 5+ years of professional work experience in accounting/finance
- Advanced Unanet experience (with emphasis on reporting) required
- Deep knowledge across various areas of accounting, including revenue percentage of completion method (ASC 606)
- Ability to effectively and proficiently work on ad-hoc projects to support data-driven decision-making
- Proven experience drafting and enforcing finance and accounting policies and maintaining internal controls
- Strong understanding of consolidation reporting and the intercompany process (when new business units are created)
- Advanced project management skills and experience managing milestones, dependencies, communications, and stakeholder expectations
- Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing and orally (whether verbally or through assistive technologies/aids) to increase transparency
- Strong competency in situational awareness, situational leadership, and conflict mitigation and resolution
- Ability to nurture relationships to help drive prioritization across multiple projects and create ecosystems of success
- A proactive, empathetic, persistent, positive, and growth mindset
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- BS/BA in accounting, finance, or a related field
- 2+ years experience working on a remote team or remote freelancing
- Prior professional services, government, or federal consulting experience
