POSITION SCOPE:
The Senior Accountant, Revenue requires successful relationships and interacts with other Accounting and Finance departments, Operational departments, Financial Planning and Analysis, Tax, Business Development, Human Resources, Legal, Engineering and others in order to provide vital and appropriate accounting services as it relates to revenue accounting and contracts with customers while ensuring compliance with AES Corporate and regulatory requirements.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct report to Revenue Manager and will be responsible for helping account for all revenue activities for the AES Clean Energy business and consistently meet financial deadlines in a timely and accurate reporting manner. Activities to include but not limited to: • Key player in revenue accounting close process for AES Clean Energy business.• Ability to read, understand and interpret revenue contracts to ensure billings to customers are consistent with the agreement. • Plan, coordinate and prioritize work assignments to meet required deadlines.• Ensure accurate internal accounting controls are in place, functioning as intended and compliance is maintained.• Ensure that revenue from contracts with customers is recognized in accordance with US GAAP.• Prepare monthly account reconciliations.• Prepare journal entries for customer cash receipts and apply payments against open accounts receivable invoices.• Book monthly journals including but not limited to the CAISO Settlement charges, production tax, liquidated damages for applicable projects, build AES DE quarterly O&M invoice and amortize monthly.• Record monthly utility and other customer true-ups post month-end close.• Ensure that curtailment revenue is estimated and recorded on a monthly basis. • Ensure that REC revenue transfers are recorded on a monthly basis. • Ensure that lost energy billings and unbilled or unplanned O&M revenue are recorded on a monthly basis.• Send monthly invoices out to customers on a timely basis per contractual deadlines. • Review monthly generation and help push to ERP system for the creation of monthly customer invoices.• Perform ad hoc accounting duties as requested by management.• Help resolve all revenue control and accounting matters on a timely basis with internal & external auditors, throughout the year.• Foster good dialogue and working relationships with other finance and accounting areas as well as other parts of the organization served by these functions.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- BS in Accounting/Finance.
- Minimum of four years relevant accounting experience.
- Strong organizational skills and a high degree of integrity.
- In-depth knowledge of US GAAP, specifically ASC 606.
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with teams within the accounting and business operation areas.
- Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills.
- Strong Computer skills, specifically Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience in the Energy Industry, particularly Renewable Energy
- Knowledge of accounting for contracts with customers (PPAs) and RTO/ISO transactions.
- Experience in SAP ERP accounting system strongly preferred.

The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $85,000 and $114,750/Annual; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements such as annual bonus, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, life, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
