Senior Accountant, Sales Commissions

Klaviyo is seeking a Senior Commissions Accountant. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Commissions Accountant will be responsible for elevating Klaviyo’s employee and partner commissions process to the next level. This role requires frequent interaction and coordination with colleagues in FP&A, Sales Operations, Total Rewards and Sales Leadership to ensure appropriate accounting treatment of employee and partner commissions. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Maintain end-to-end responsibility for sales and partner commissions cycle
• Review key inputs to employee and partners commissions calculation maintained by cross-functional departments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established plans.
• Responsible for accurate reporting of employee and partner commissions accrual on a monthly basis 
• Ensure accurate payout of employee and partner commissions on a monthly basis
• Drive and support the month end close process, including preparing relevant journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, and account analysis on period over period account fluctuations
• Assist with implementation of new commissions tool 
• Assist in the rollout of new commission plans annually 
• Assist with year-end audits and any additional compliance engagements 

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Advanced Excel capabilities required
• Experience with ERP tools a plus.
• Experience with commissions software 
• Expert knowledge of ASC 606 as it applies to commissions 
• Ability to work on and prioritize multiple projects while continuing to meet goals and deadlines for ongoing tasks, with minimal supervision.
• Ability to identify errors and root causes of errors, and develop workable solutions or alternatives to avoid errors going forward.
• Ability to continuously improve reporting processes and tools and manage projects to promote system improvements and efficiencies.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication and analytical skills.
• Ability to interact with and build productive working relationships across all organizational levels and departments.

Education and Experience:

• BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance required
• 3-5 years of experience in related roles
• CPA and Big Four public accounting experience a plus 
• Technology and SaaS industry experience strongly preferred
