Job Description

Overview Our client, a leading creative agency with a global footprint, is seeking aSenior Accountant / Accounting Supervisorto oversee and execute core accounting operations. This role will handle everything fromfinancial statement preparationtocash flow management, while also reviewing and improving processes for AP/AR and reconciliations. The ideal candidate isproactive, detail-oriented, and skilled at identifying errors or misbooked entries before they become issues. This position will also havepotential supervisory responsibilityfor 1–2 junior team members and will liaise with a Toronto-based consultant to ensure compliance with Canadian accounting and tax regulations. Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Analysis β€’ Preparemonthly and quarterly financial statementsin accordance with GAAP. β€’ Perform detailed reviews of financial statements to identify and correct misbooked entries, especially within the balance sheet. β€’ Generatecash position and cash flow reportsfor management review. β€’ Maintain and monitor thechart of accounts, ensuring consistency across offices. Banking & Reconciliations β€’ Completemonthly bank reconciliationsfor multiple accounts, including USD and CAD accounts. β€’ Review and approve wire transfers and other banking transactions. Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable β€’ Oversee invoice processing, vendor payments, and expense coding. β€’ Monitor AR collections and ensure timely client invoicing. β€’ Review AP/AR aging reports and work to resolve discrepancies. Tax & Compliance β€’ Managemonthly sales tax and commercial tax paymentsfor the New York office. β€’ Coordinate with the Toronto-based consultant on Canadian tax compliance and reporting. β€’ Ensure adherence to GAAP and local regulatory requirements. Supervision & Process Improvement β€’ Potentially oversee 1–2 accounting team members. β€’ Review work for accuracy, provide training and guidance, and ensure deadlines are met. β€’ Proactively seek out process inefficiencies and implement improvements. Qualifications β€’ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. β€’ 3–7 years of progressive accounting experience,creative agency, professional services, or multi-entity environmentexperience is a plus β€’ Strong understanding ofbasic accounting principles(debits, credits, accruals). β€’ Experience withcurrency exchangeand multi-currency transactions. β€’ Skilled infinancial statement preparation, reconciliations, AP/AR processes, and cash flow reporting. β€’ High attention to detail andproactive problem-solving mindsetβ€” not just reacting to errors, but actively seeking them out. β€’ Proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and accounting software systems.
