ABOUT THIS ROLE
As an Sr. Accounting Manager at PEAK6, you'll be integral to maintaining and improving the firm's processes and procedures by collaborating with some of the sharpest minds in the investment and financial industries, to advance the firm's position as an innovative leader in the industry. Working in the Finance team at PEAK6 means that you'll always be presented with a variety of new possibilities as you continue to enhance your skills. The successful candidate will provide strategic, tactical and financial leadership to the organization. This role will support Shared Service Organization to deliver business insight and drive improvement of all accounting and finance functions for PEAK6 parent company. This individual will report directly to PEAK6's Finance Director. While some areas will be the same each month, we are looking for someone to bring their experience to our team and shake up the norm. Responsibilities:
- Manage month-end close processes: reviewing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, preparing monthly financial statements, and other accounting/finance responsibilities
- Responsible for the consolidation of multiple entities; capital contributions and loans down from the parent to subsidiaries; accounting for strategic investments
- Manage year end audit with external auditors and internal staff.
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's finance and accounting functions and performance
- Analyzing expenses and their drivers; preparing monthly accruals and accurately reporting on variances vs prior months and vs budgets.
- Preparing monthly reporting packages for business leaders and senior management that have a direct impact to drive business decisions
- Manage accounting function to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP, local statutory reporting (local GAAP) and Company policies & procedures; preparation of budgets and forecasts and analysis of results against the same, including generating appropriate internal reports; managing the cost accounting function and analyzing variances against same; financial analysis for capital investments; facilitating adequate internal controls and policy compliance, including the intercompany cost allocations
- Ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and usefulness of financial and management reporting; oversee the preparation and communication of monthly and annual financial statements
- Monitor and analyze monthly financial results. Identify relevant trends and key drivers of budget variances. Advise senior leadership of opportunities and risk impacting the organization.
- Able to shift between priorities as needed throughout the workday
- Develop credibility and build partnerships with key contacts across the organization to facilitate efficiency, knowledge sharing, and opportunities for process improvement
YOUR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or related degree
- 5-7 years of relevant experience in Accounting and Finance/FP&A (Must have experience in accounting and FP&A)
- Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
- NetSuite experience is a plus
- Adaptive Insights experience is a plus
- Strong grasp of month end close, income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow financial statements along with the ability to analyze financial results and assess financial impacts of business decisions.
- Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills; must be able to convey information to all levels of the organization in a clear, focused, and concise manner
- A tech forward approach to managing day to day tasks - we love to automate and make things more efficient and so should you!
- The ability to navigate ambiguity - you won't know everything and that's ok! But the ability to research and use your resources is key.
- The desire to take ownership of projects and ideas, while being able to identify gaps and other areas of improvement.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to direct and influence other senior leaders in a collaborative environment
- Excellent communication skills, with the capability of articulating the company's financial status
- Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight time frames and simultaneously manage several projects
