Job Details:

Job Summary: Manages a team of Cubic accountants and its subsidiaries. This position also manages the preparation of monthly financial statements for Cubic entities and subsidiaries and works with senior management.This position works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages the accounting group that performs the general ledger accounting function.
  • Reviews monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Reviews general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Review and coordinate cash forecasting.
  • Prepares or reviews account analyses for management and internal/external auditors.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information.
  • Assists the Manager of Financial Reporting in the preparation of quarterly and annual fluctuation reports.
  • Work with the Accounts Payable Manager to set goals and priorities for the Accounts Payable Manager and the Accounts Payable team.
  • Work with the Global Process Owner for the procure-to-pay process stream with regard to the payment side of this stream on process improvements
  • When emergency payment and transaction situations arise, work with the Accounts Payable Manager to prioritize and direct resources of the Accounts Payable team in order to resolve issues.
  • Work as the Billing Manager to set goals and priorities for the Accounts Receivable team.
  • Work with finance leads to analyze and assess aged accounts receivable.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the timely availability of accurate financial information to management.
  • Assists in the financial analysis of possible acquisitions, divestitures, major capital expenditures or other specific projects, as required.
  • Provides necessary training and supervision of accounting staff, as required.
  • Ensures departmental compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Maintains or reviews documentation necessary for the audit of Cubic's financial statements and its system of internal accounting controls over financial reporting (Sarbanes Oxley compliance).
  • Provides quality analysis and financial information to operating and corporate management.
  • Prepares other financial reports or analyses, as required.
  • Facilitates "Lean" principles and creates efficiencies within the department.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Four-year college degree in accounting or relevant field
  • Minimum of ten years related total experience, preferably in a contracting and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated success in building and managing effective accounting departments and/or working with public accounting teams.
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and financial reporting requirements.
  • Ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel, management and external auditors.
  • CPA certification or MBA preferred.
  • DFAS and WAWF preferred.
  • Public accounting/auditing experience as well as experience managing an accounting team preferred.
  • Exposure to foreign currency transactions and consolidations preferred.
