The Senior Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing basic accounting functions that include journal voucher entry and posting, account reconciliations, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations. The Senior Accounting Specialist will assist with month-end close to ensure financial information for GuideStone Financial Resources and its controlled subsidiaries is available in a timely manner. The role is responsible for reconciling clearing accounts which will require communication with other departments within the organization. The Senior Accounting Specialist will also prepare daily cash summary for PNC. This role serves as a department representative on strategic organizational projects and communicates any identified issues both internally (Accounting Supervisor as well as other Accounting Specialists) and externally (transfer agent, fund accountant, custodial bank).

What you will do:

• Special Projects.
• Prepare daily cash summary for PNC.
• Reconcile clearing accounts to ensure all money received or paid out is reflected in the appropriate recordkeeping system. Research and correct any out of balance.
• Process download from transfer agent. Research and resolve cash or income differences.
• Review OMNI to GL recons & error report. Research and make necessary corrections.
• Prepare bank reconciliations.
• Month End Close.
• Accounts Receivable.
• Record and maintain fixed asset system.
• Maintain financial records for GuideStone controlled subsidiaries.
• Prepare system improvement requirements for information systems, perform modification testing, and assist with special projects.
• Other duties may be assigned.
• Overtime as required.

What you will need:

• Bachelors Degree in accounting or equivalent work experience.
• 3-5 years of accounting experience.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
• Experience in financial services/mutual fund industry.
• Project management or project team experience.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Good organizational skills.
• Knowledge of mutual fund environment.
• Knowledge of investment accounting.
• Working knowledge of data base information retrieval methods.
• Excellent analytical and problem skills for reconciling large bank accounts and complex cash transactions.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Ability to work in a multi-company environment with intercompany accounts.
• Ability to develop alternative procedures.
• Excellent spreadsheet skills.
• Ability to quickly learn new software.
• Ability to see "big picture" in reviewing reasonableness of journal entries.
• Knowledge of treasury management.
• Must have complete confidentiality regarding GuideStone business matters.

Technical Knowledge and Skills

• Working knowledge of data base information retrieval methods.
• Excellent spreadsheet skills.
• Working knowledge of OMNI Plan, OMNI Pay, Genelco, Global, and Microsoft Access preferred.
• Ability to quickly learn new software.
