We are looking for a Senior Accounting Specialist who can deliver exceptional experiences and outcomes to the Finance and Accounting department.
What will you be doing?
The Senior Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing accounting functions generally related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit, general ledger accounting, as assigned in order to deliver exceptional experiences and outcomes.Â
Your main areas of responsibility will be:
- Process and record invoices and payments for customer, suppliers, and service providers.
- Maintain aging reports with intent of communicating key information.
- Implement actions to help achieve goals related to AR and AP
- Assist and train other staff on processes and use of systems
- Aid in financial accounting close processes
In addition, you will also be expected to:
- Process invoices for customers and post receipts in a timely and accurate manner
- Facilitate payment of vendor invoices via various means (check, credit card, escrow, wires, ACH, etc.), ensuring payments are made and recorded to the ERP in a timely and accurate manner
- Ensure vendors are paid within stated terms
- Maintain AR and/or AP aging reports including sufficient and informative descriptions of aged items
- Drive for timely resolution of aged items
- Resolve disputes or other issues on invoices with business partners
- Evaluate business partners for credit worthiness and take appropriate actions
- Work with Sales and Purchasing to resolve credit issues
- Process customer or vendor RMAs and the related credits
- Support activities enabling the reconciliation of balance sheet account
- Other duties as assigned
Education, Experience, Skills and Traits
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education
- 4-year college degree in Accounting or equivalent
Required Experience
-  2+ years of operational accounting experience, working high volume accounts payable or accounts receivable
Preferred Experience
- 2+ years of experience in financial accounting
Required Skills
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures, principles, and GAAP standards
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications, especially Excel
- Strong knowledge of operational accounting practicesÂ
- Working knowledge of applicable local and regional taxes
Desired Skills
- Familiar with complex ERP systems
- Introductory knowledge of US GAAP
