Milliman's New York City/Atlanta Health practice is seeking actuarial students with a minimum of 2 years of relevant healthcare experience to assist consulting actuaries in managing projects for a diverse and expanding client base.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a mix of traditional and non-traditional actuarial roles
  • Review, organize, and analyze statistical data
  • Develop and utilize actuarial and statistical models; perform statistical testing
  • Analyze healthcare costs and utilization data using spreadsheets and databases
  • Requires the ability to work on several projects at once and interact effectively with clients and colleagues
  • Draft client communications
  • Assist with research projects
  • Work towards ASA designation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in the field of Actuarial Science or related degree
  • At least 3 Society of Actuaries exams passed
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets and database applications (e.g., Excel, SAS, SQL)
  • Knowledge of various aspects of healthcare actuarial practice, including pricing, reserving, and forecasting
  • Experience with Medicare Advantage or ACA pricing, provider contracting, life sciences, or PBM/drug supply chain is a plus
  • Ability to work on several projects at once, prioritize and complete multiple projects and tasks, and interact efficiently with clients and colleagues
  • Strong communication skills, including oral presentations and oral reports
  • High degree of self-motivation
  • Sharp critical thinking skills, sound judgement and decision-making ability, and both the ability and willingness to clearly articulate your ideas
  • An inherent sense of the value of collaboration
  • The ability to work both collaboratively and independently
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment where the client is always first

Compensation

  • The salary range is $76,000 to $137,000, depending on a combination of factors, including but not limited to education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, location, etc. If overall experience is less than 6 years the range would be $76,000 to $122,000; for experience of greater than 6 years, the range would be $85,000 to $137,000.

Location

  • The person/people hired for this role will be required to work in-person in the Atlanta office on a weekly basis, but flexible work arrangements will be discussed.
