As a Lead Engineer in Carmel, IN, you will be responsible for launching new product design and new applications at the customer and developing top down functional requirement and design, simulate and qualify full product to meet customer needs. You will have end to end responsibility for flawless launch, with performance / cost / reliability / APQP and timing by direct management of a dedicated team of engineers, designers and technicians.

The Garrett Engineering organization is responsible for developing a differentiated product portfolio of boosting solutions that enables our customers to set new benchmarks in vehicle performance - both for our traditional core turbocharger business as well as new growth areas such as electrification and software.

As a Lead Engineer in Carmel, IN, you will be responsible for launching new product design and new applications at the customer and developing top down functional requirement and design, simulate and qualify full product to meet customer needs. You will have end to end responsibility for flawless launch, with performance / cost / reliability / APQP and timing by direct management of a dedicated team of engineers, designers and technicians.
Your Responsibilities:
- End to End Product Ownership, meeting all turbocharger functional requirements (Performance, Reliability, Quality, Costs & Timing) to meet engine specifications
- Matching, Design, Simulation, Validation (DVP&R), Turbo Release (TRA)
- Accountable for Internal & External APQP on full Bill Of Material - Sign off turbo, component PPAP deviations (APQP output)
- Customer Interface - Single Point of Contact to Customer for Launch
- Lead & Prioritize project team work to meet project objectives - Prototypes, ODT, PPAP and SOP on time at cost target
- Accountable for Design and Validation work planning & on time delivery in support of Program Management Milestones including Design Freeze
- Accountable for 2D & 3D creation and quality according to documented Design Standards & guidelines
- Ensure proper application & use of standard Design processes & tools, as defined by functional matrix
- Lead cross-functional CI activities including new process ownership & tools deployment, in pursuit of increased flexible & agile multi-skilled engineers inside the team (under oversight of Chief Engineers & Engineering Excellence)
- Support the hiring process, hiring decision, on-boarding, and UCP process for Development Engineers and Designers and accountability for team performance
- Support Design quality issue investigations (8D's) and lead implementation of corrective actions
- Responsible to Build and Meet Annual Operating Plan
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field
- 5+ years of experience with developing and/or launching products in the automotive or similar industry
- Proven track record with product validation and launch experience as well as product development and component design in automotive industry
- Experience with direct customer interface
- Experience with leading multi-skilled project teams
- Strong communications skills and sense of urgency
