Senior Analyst, Finance
Job Description
The Senior Analyst, Finance is responsible for maintaining and overseeing marketing budgets, coordinating with President, the marketing department, the radio department, and the creative department to build marketing budgets, approving POs, approving budgets and budget adjustment, approving recoupable marketing terms, and reporting to management on marketing spend.
What you'll do:
- Preparation of all month-end and year-end close marketing activities including but not limited to journal entries and recoupable costs
- Assist in the development and implementation of new processes (consistent with other Sony labels) for budgeting marketing as well as issuing POs and paying invoices
- Review and approve marketing purchase orders in Console. Release for payment invoices in Console
- Work in brand new marketing budget and recording system, Console, and help the marketing department maneuver in the system
- Oversee marketing budget input into Console and monitor costs against budget
- Prepare monthly and quarterly marketing actuals versus budget activity
- Create reports and presentation of monthly/quarterly/annual marketing data and explanations for meeting with Sony Music Executives
- Prepare and analyze weekly/monthly reports comprised of worldwide revenues and marketing as a percentage of revenues
- Prepare mid-project marketing spend combining actual and predicted spending
- Approve recoupment terms in Console based artist contractual terms and verify recoupment calculations
- Report weekly spending, available funds, risks, and opportunities of MP forecasts to Product Managers and Departments Heads
- Develop ad hoc analyses on various marketing categories and year-over-year spending trends
- Liaise with the Royalty Department regarding royalty statements, particularly costs charged to statements.
- Liaise with JV Accounting, particularly with regard to marketing charges to profit splits
- Review marketing costs charged to artist and JV statements
- Approve new vendor set-ups
- College Degree (Business/Finance Related Fields)
- Previous Finance Experience, particularly related to Marketing Budgets
- Prior work experience in accounting or finance is a plus. Must be highly proficient in Excel and possess strong analytical and data modeling skills.
- Solid communication, organizational, communication, and follow up skills.
- Able to work independently, multitask, and manage evolving priorities on the fly.
- Must be able to interact well with all internal and external contacts, and form positive and productive working relationships.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Detail oriented, organized, timely and accurate
- Ability to read and understand recording agreements
