The Market Strategy team is seeking a Senior Analyst - Fundamental Modeling to join their group. The candidate is required to have capability with running industry standard production cost model software (i.e. AURORA, PLEXOS, Promod or similar) to assist with developing internal strategies for locational power markets in the US. In addition, the candidate will support the development of AES Clean Energy's strategy by performing power market research in addition to supporting various data analysis tasks. They will work closely with various teams across the AES Clean Energy organization with the goal of assisting in the alignment of the ACE's strategic views.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

As a Senior Analyst - Fundamental Modeling, the responsibilities include:

• Buiild and run fundamental production cost models for key US markets
• Develop scenarios to define a future view that will be used to formulate strategies that assist in AES' approach to the US energy markets
• Understand and regularly engage the Commercial and Development organization (and other partners) on market views

• Conducting/maintaining routine and ad hoc competitive benchmarking and analysis
• Conduct financial analysis centered on wind, solar, and energy storage generation economics
• Identify economic impact of changes to U.S. policy impacting the transition to renewable energy
• Research and implement future renewable energy demand, opportunities, and procurement goals of U.S. corporations and utilities into the fundamental model
• Identify emerging industries that have potential for commercial opportunities
• Develop and maintain internally developed data management tools
• Support the preparation and submittal of market strategy plans to AES management team.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in business management, economics, sustainability, engineering, computer science or related field.
• Demonstrated understanding of and experience in using fundamental production cost models (i.e. AURORA, PLEXOS, Promod or similar)
• Knowledge of energy markets including at least one of the following (PJM, CAISO, ERCOT, ISONE, NYISO) and understanding of future trends/prices
• 3+ years of related experience in renewable energy, power markets, investment banking, or consulting.
• Advanced Microsoft Office Suite proficiency and comfort using web-based industry intelligence solutions.
• Working knowledge of SQL.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to turn raw data from a variety of resources into useful information with minimal oversight.
• Quick learner, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications/Experience that would be beneficial:

• Master's degree in business management, economics, sustainability, engineering, computer science or related field.
• Working knowledge Python.
• Familiarity with commodity price, EIA, EPA, and ISO data.
• Experience working with large amounts of time series data.

The expected salary for this position begins at $80,000. Factors that may be used to determine final salary offered include relevant experience, skills, location, qualifications and other factors, consistent with applicable law. This position is eligible to receive an annual bonus.
