The Group Benefits IT organization is looking for a Sr. Business Analyst to join us on our continued transformation to Lean-Agile ways of working. The Sr. Business Analyst primary role is to collaborate and understand the business implicit and explicit intent and to help the team to build business and technical requirements to comprehensively cover the business goals and objectives. This candidate should be proficient in using techniques that enable a highly iterative delivery approach of continuous requirement identification and will focus on delivering effective business value as quickly as possible using application of agile practices, principles and lean thinking.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with passionate technical and Business leaders to understand the architectural roadmaps that support and fulfill business strategy.
  • Work closely with Product Managers, Product Owners, RTE, Scrum Masters, and architects to help plan out features and solutions.
  • Lead the timely and successful delivery of business capabilities and/or technology objectives.
  • Provides coaching, mentorship and guidance to help our team grow in their skills.
  • Cost Benefit Analysis: Participate in the development of cost benefit analysis for business solutions.
  • Change Management: Facilitate and communicate change management and business or technical processes to address complex business/technical issues in a cost-effective manner.
  • Client Interface: Serve as a consultant between development teams across divisional organizations for process and business improvement, processes and systems integration.
  • Resolve conflict and remove barriers to ensure successful resolution of issues.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to structure and drive working and informational sessions that promote collaboration, achieve synergy, and desired outcomes.
  • Design all aspects of meetings to ensure fast, effective accomplishment of objectives.
  • Identify choices and improvement opportunities to better align own work with the direction and strategic priorities of the broader organization
  • Strong written and oral communication skill with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audience. Experienced facilitator with strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization (e.g. entry level end-user through to Senior Management) and demonstrate strong leadership skills.
  • Strategic thinking skills. Ability to provide options and assess solutions, looking at the business holistically.
  • Understanding of current and emerging IT products, services, processes and methodologies.
  • Experience working in a multi-sourced, offshore delivery centers and shared services environment is a plus.
  • Experience in developing features and user stories and strategic roadmaps.
  • Cloud knowledge or experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, with an advanced degree preferred, and at least seven, typically ten years of solid, diverse work experience in IT; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Experience managing small to medium sized teams is a plus.
  • Basic Knowledge and experience with Agile/SAFe methodology and techniques.
  • Understanding of the business (Claims) is desired, although similar insurance industry experience would be acceptable.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$91,360 - $137,040
