Responsibilities:
 

  • Support capital markets, treasury, and finance teams in data analysis, modeling, asset management, and investor communications.
  • Examine data and build out reporting processes and templates, build financial models in software and spreadsheets, and make projections to support budget and liquidity forecasts, and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Be an expert in large sets of consumer finance performance data to understand current and historical performance, conduct analysis, build models, and inform key stakeholders to drive informed business decisions.
  • Troubleshoot data issues and be able to piece together analysis for disparate data sets and sources.
  • Create and implement tools and processes for data analysis to increase accuracy, understand root causes and variances, and improve efficiency.
  • Query and use data efficiently, building automated dashboards and processes to analyze and communicate findings.
  • Maintain data rooms and report performance data internally and externally to existing and new investors.
  • Communicate a coherent story on loan performance and trends.
  • Build and maintain discounted cash flow and other financial models in Excel to evaluate investments in consumer finance receivables and related financing structures.
  • Use Intex, Moody’s Structure Finance Workstation, or other structured cash flow software to build loan-level cash flows and debt structures.
  • Develop projections to support corporate P&L, cash flow, and liquidity forecasting, support annual budgeting and mid-year reforecasts.
  • Make recommendations to senior management regarding the pricing and deal structure of existing and future portfolios.
  • Read and understand loan sale and securitization documentation, provide recommendations and analysis, and partner with Legal/Finance/Treasury on the execution of documents.
  • Partner with origination and servicing operations to make and implement recommendations to improve investment performance or mitigate risks.
     

Education & Other Minimum Requirements:
 

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

 

  • Three years of experience as a Data Analyst or Data Scientist; experience must be in the field of finance.
     
  • Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, or a related field and five years of progressive experience as a Data Analyst or Data Scientist (experience must be in the field of finance) in lieu of a Master’s degree and three years of experience.

 

  • Work experience or academic background to include: 1. Using SQL, SAS, Python, and Tableau. 2. Building discounted cash flow, asset return, and credit models. 3. Building slide decks with consistent formatting and communicating analysis to all levels of the organization and externally to investors. 4. Building and implementing tools and processes for data analysis to increase accuracy, understand root causes and variances, and improve efficiency. 5. Developing projections to support corporate profit and loss (P&L), cash flow, and liquidity forecasting, supporting annual budgeting and mid-year reforecasts. 6. Utilizing generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and cash-based accounting methods.
     

This position reports to Ascent Funding, LLC’s headquarters at 402 W. Broadway, 19th Floor, San Diego, CA 92101. Ascent Funding is a member of the Goal Family of Companies.
Salary: $90,000.00 to $105,000.00 per year.
