About Credit and Fraud Risk

Purposeful, ambitious, insatiable, analytical, collaborative and courageous are the hallmarks of our Credit and Fraud Risk team.

This critical team is responsible for managing enterprise risks through the customer life cycle and across all our global products. We develop industry-first data capabilities, build profitable decisioning frameworks, create machine-learning powered predictive models, and improve customer servicing strategies. This team has delivered industry-leading results year after year while enabling profitable growth and delivering a best-in-class customer experience.

This team is comprised of several diverse teams structured under four, core functions:
  • Credit Risk Strategy: Monitor portfolios and make profit-based risk decisions at all stages of the customer credit life cycle
  • Decision Science: Build predictive models using AI/Machine Learning for all portfolios and products
  • Fraud Risk Strategy: Develop fraud prevention strategies on behalf of our customers

You will play an influential role working closely with partners in other Risk teams, Marketing, Finance, Global Servicing Network, Legal/Compliance, Banking, and Technologies to create world-class strategies and capabilities. This is a Risk Strategy & technology facing role defining software product vision, ensuring flexible and global system/capability design, grooming user stories, prioritizing work for scrum teams using program increments.

This is an exciting and critical role that will help drive the future roadmap of the global capabilities for enabling outstanding customer experience in banking and payments domain. You'll work among robust design, product and engineering teams. We are looking for someone who is deeply inquisitive, enjoys creative problem solving, is detail-oriented, and has an entrepreneurial background to focus on driving results, platform performance and high availability.

Responsibilities
  • Translate needs of business owners/stakeholders and deliver on the Product roadmap.
  • Interact with business strategy partners, product managers and engineers to identify needs, opportunities, and gaps, and solve problems with a common future vision.
  • Identify opportunities and drive product strategy, roadmap, business capabilities and features.
  • Lead the business features grooming into software product/capability features and stories.
  • Brainstorm and negotiate effectively with various stakeholders to continuously define feature priority.
  • Partner with other functional teams across the Risk and Non-Risk groups to use standard methodologies and ensure a positive customer experience throughout the customer journey.
  • Lead the product functional design and technical design based on an intimate knowledge of the customer and technology.
  • Define the data flow within and across systems along with integration patterns.
  • Develop and maintain conceptual and logical data models for internal system and APIs.
  • Write stories, acceptance criteria and own the product backlog for scrum teams, perform all scrum ceremonies with scrum team.
  • Agile mindset and transformation champion to manage the product life cycle from strategic planning to tactical execution via scrum teams.
  • Ruthlessly prioritize engineering work and balance the requirements of customers and stakeholders.
  • Evangelize the product both internally and externally and shepherd products through the development process, advocating to achieve the best outcomes.
  • Enable data and analytics-driven decision making to evolve products and usage.

Depending on factors such as business unit requirements, the nature of the position, cost and applicable laws, American Express may provide visa sponsorship for certain positions

A successful candidate will have
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team to identify opportunities and drive solutions to meet business needs.
  • A good balance of technical knowledge and business acumen with a proven track record of driving digital innovation and business metrics with a customer-first mindset.
  • 0-3+ years of experience in launching software or services as product development professional in partnership with engineering teams and high degree of proficiency in prototyping, iterative development, Scaled Agile Framework, and principles.
  • Enthusiasm and passion for building great products and services and an ability to articulate product functionality.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, and inspire partners to drive collaboration and alignment.
  • 2+ years of progressively responsible experience with risk analysis.
  • 2+ years of experience with risk management/risk product management.
  • 2+ years of experience working with technical, analytical, business, and non-technical teams.
  • High degree of organization, individual initiative, and personal accountability.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with tremendous will to win.
  • Bachelor's degree in Management/Engineering/Computer Science/Business Administration, or a related field.

Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
