As our Senior Android Developer you will play a valued role on our engineering team as our Android expert. You will be responsible for building user-centric features customer-facing applications and tackling unique challenges with ensuring our customers are able to leverage our application at any time including both mobile and web. This role will afford you the opportunity to work with several technologies including Kotlin and ReactNative.

Example of projects you will be helping with:

• Utilizing native Android APIs to implement things like camera Machine Learning (ML) modeling and image manipulation

• Playing a key role in building and utilizing more fabric rending turbo modules existing native modules into our ReactNative application and helping to coordinate the upgrade of our application with the Gradle build system. You may get to patch update and replace 3rd party code as necessary!

Some of the tools we love to use are: Typescript React React Native GraphQL Swift and Kotlin.

Responsibilities:

• Design develop and maintain high-quality web and mobile applications through to successful implementation in an Agile/Kanban environment.

• Design and develop Android functionality for customer-facing applications using Kotlin and integrating into ReactNative applications.

• Collaborate with cross functional teams including UI/ UX designer product managers and backend developers to deliver high-quality and high-performance mobile solutions

• Ensure the performance quality and responsiveness of applications by identifying and resolving bugs bottlenecks and other issues that may arise.

• Integrate RESTful APIs and GraphQL for efficient data retrieval.

• Write clean efficient and well documented code.

• Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.

• Understanding of testing best practices and the ability to implement testing strategies for front-end applications.

• Participate in code reviews and actively provide constructive feedback to team members

• Willing to use or learn and contribute to ReactNative development projects as needed

• Stay updated on the latest Android development trends tools technologies and best practices and bring these learnings to the team.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in native Android development using Kotlin to support cross-platform development

• Have successfully built and deployed multiple features and software applications into production

• Familiarity with Android UI/ UX design principles and best practices and comfortable implementing responsive UI designs with a strong emphasis on a positive user experience

• Experience with functional and object oriented programming design patterns and an ability to recommend using one paradigm over the other.

• Understand how systems are built and where dependencies exist and can effectively operate and make improvements in what is built and pushed into production

• Experienced working with code that has integration apps built in and provide Android expertise to ensure workable on all devices in the XOi ecosystem

• Strong experience in writing unit and integration tests using testing frameworks

• Familiarity with end-to-end testing tools like Cypress or Appium.

• Strong communication skills with a passion to collaborate and share ideas.

• Experience with CI/CD development and organizational practices.

• Comfortable working on a variety of projects based on needs of the business including both maintenance refactoring and new development

• Published Android applications on the Google Play Store desired

We would be excited if you had:

• Experience with JavaScript and ReactNative

• Experience with GraphQL and/or REST based services and service-based architecture

• Familiarity with state management libraries (Redux MobX etc) and modern authorization mechanisms (eg JSON Web Token)

• Good understanding of web markup including HTML5 and CSS3 and React including hooks and context APIs.

• Familiarity with and/ or excitement about unidirectional data flow
