Senior Android Developer

As a Mobile Application Developer at DTN, you will be responsible for enhancing, maintaining, and advancing our global weather service mobile applications, which serve millions of users on both iOS and Android platforms. We are looking for a Senior Android App Developer with a strong background in Android native development. Experience in iOS development is also highly desired. You will work closely with our product, design, and engineering teams to build features that delight our users and keep us at the forefront of the market. 

What you will be responsible for: 

• Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable Android applications. 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features. 

• Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications by identifying and correcting bottlenecks and fixing bugs. 

• Document application design, architecture, and code to facilitate maintenance and future development. 

• Lead and mentor junior developers, providing guidance on best practices and technical expertise. 

• Gather and define solution requirements, ensuring they align with business goals and user needs. 

• Develop and execute comprehensive testing plans to ensure application functionality, reliability, and performance. 

• Work closely with the iOS team to ensure feature parity across platforms and assist with iOS development tasks when necessary. 

What you will bring to the role:

• 3+ years of experience in Android app development. 

• Proficiency in Java and Kotlin programming languages. 

• Strong understanding of Google Play Console policies as well as in-app purchasing mechanics. 

• Experience with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services. 

• Knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices. 

• Familiarity with push notifications, subscriptions, and mapping services. 

• Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning. 

• Solid understanding of the full mobile development life cycle. 

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and in a team environment. 

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Experience with iOS app development and ability to assist with iOS tasks when necessary. 

• Knowledge of cross-platform development frameworks (e.g., Flutter, React Native, Kotlin Multiplatform). 

• Experience with Agile development methodologies. 

• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git. 

• Experience with CI/CD tools and processes. 

The targeted hiring base pay range for this position is between PHP 93,333 and PHP 133,333 monthly. DTN is a pay-for-performance organization, which means there is the opportunity to advance your compensation with performance over time. The actual base pay offered for this position will be dependent upon many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experiences, training/education, transferable skills, business needs, internal equity, and applicable laws. The targeted hiring base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for market-competitive variable pay and benefits.
