Senior Android Software Engineer

Adyen is looking for full-time Senior Android Software Engineers to help us conquer the world of mobile payments. You'll be working in a collaborative and motivated team with a lot of room to start new initiatives and take ownership. Besides having an open and entrepreneurial mindset, we expect you to be experienced in Android development, both from an implementation and architectural point of view. We are building a platform for dedicated payment devices where merchants can operate their own apps. That means that retailers can keep stock, and restaurants can manage their tables, while taking payments on the same device. This brings business and payments together in a single mobile device. You will be focusing on building a platform that facilitates these functions, such as device management and the payment functionality, using the latest technologies such as Kotlin, Hilt, Flow, and Compose.

What you’ll do

We are developing "the card reader”, which is the companion to a merchant’s smartphone or tablet. It connects via Bluetooth Low Energy and it can be attached to the mobile device with the use of a magnet which is built into the hardware. This makes it ideal for the mobile use case, as it facilitates taking payments anywhere inside or outside of the merchant's physical location. You will be working on an SDK that merchants can easily integrate into their own application. This SDK connects to the card reader and handles everything around payments. That brings interesting architecture and security challenges. The project is in active development, and you will help us launch.

Your qualifications:

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in Android development
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

Nice to have:

• Experience with building libraries used by other developers
• Knowledge about security best practices and standards.
• Experience with dedicated device
• Hilt, Coroutines and Flow
