Senior Application Scientist, Flow Assurance

Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Application Scientist to help Locus develop the next generation of bio-surfactant based products through innovative product development and application testing. Our products will be used for drilling and completion, production chemicals, EOR, and more! Located in our Woodlands, TX laboratory, this important role for future success of Locus Bio-Energy will report directly to the Director of Technology.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

• Independently conduct experiments to develop and execute projects for new products, formulations, method development, or expanded application uses with an emphasis on next generation paraffin and asphaltene dissolvers and inhibitors.
• Actively contribute to all ongoing projects for lab, field validation and commercialization.
• Raw materials and product selection, testing and qualification.
• Continuous product improvement based on customer and internal feedback.
• Develop new oil & gas applications for Locus’s unique biosurfactants and other bio-based materials.
• Support business development strategy and growth by building relationships with the internal and external R&D and sales parties.
• Execute the defined intellectual property strategy associated with new technology development and ensure that new product and technology developments are unique in nature and patentable.
• Support the preparation of Oil & Gas related patent applications.
• Develop and follow SOP’s and protocols to maintain best industry practice and product quality.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• M Sc. or Ph.D. in chemistry, petroleum engineering, material science or similar.
• 3+ years successful and progressive experience working in an application or R&D lab.
• Demonstrated experience in up-stream or midstream oil & gas industry.
• Experience with flow assurance, asphaltene & paraffin inhibitor/dissolver chemistries and product development.
• Ability to understand and apply novel chemical solutions to oil industry problems.
• Travel up to 10% of time.
