Senior Architect - Secret Clearance

Procon Consulting is seeking a Senior Architect for an opportunity in the Huntsville, AL area on a large federal project. The candidate will have responsibilities that include but not limited to construction, design/build, engineering and facilities management complex construction projects. The role involves planning, design, and oversight of renovation and construction projects, ensuring compliance with established standards and requirements. The individual will collaborate closely with project teams, government staff, and contractors to deliver functional, efficient, and secure workspaces. The ideal candidate will posses the following skills and requirements:

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Serve as a consultant for establishing design standards and construction criteria.
• Conduct on-site surveys, document workflows, and provide actionable recommendations.
• Develop stacking and blocking plans, schematic designs, and design intent drawings using AutoCAD.
• Manage project design from inception to post-occupancy, ensuring compliance with FBI standards.
• Perform construction administration duties including reviewing RFIs, submittals, and field reports, and conducting site inspections.
• Review proposals, documents, and specifications to verify alignment with program requirements.
• Support project scheduling and deliver regular progress reports.
• Maintain knowledge of and compliance with International Building Code (IBC), Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards (UFAS), and other federal guidelines.
• Provide input on standards revisions, as needed, and assist with development of reports and presentations.
• Foster teamwork and resolve critical issues with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in commercial or government office building design and construction (20+ years preferred).
• Proficiency in workspace design focused on occupant health and welfare.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
• Strong communication, multitasking, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and reprioritize as needed.
• Familiarity with FBI standards, Program of Requirements (POR), and related guides.
• Architecture license preferred.
• Must possess an active Secret Clearance.
