Our in-house creative team is small but might-we are looking for a passionate, multi-faceted, hands-on Senior Art Director with a strong design background, photo/video art direction, and photographer experience to help us craft and tell the Byte story as we build brand awareness and affinity for new and existing customers around the world.

The ideal Senior Art Director candidate is a collaborative leader at heart who is driven by creative excellence across all mediums-maintaining and advancing the visual expression and cohesion of the Byte brand. They are incredibly organized and proactive, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and thrive in both a team setting and independently, working efficiently while taking initiative and navigating multiple projects and timelines. They not only have their finger on the pulse of all things culture, design, art, and fashion [current and past], but are also an expert at understanding how to extract, distill, and transform their inspirations and ideas into effective business solutions that drive innovation and deliver best-in-class creative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report to and collaborate with our Creative Director on the visual development, execution, and evolution of the Byte brand
  • Concept, art direct, and design cohesive visuals across all brand, product, and marketing touchpoints, including but not limited to paid and organic social content, brand campaigns, brand guidelines and style guides, print collateral, digital and display ads, packaging, and more
  • Propose, develop, design, and manage creative templates, mockups, and other design/production efficiencies to be shared with other designers and external partners, as needed
  • Lead the art direction of photo and video shoots with a clear understanding and mastery of the pre-production, production, and post-production processes, best practices, and logistical constraints.
  • Photograph [and retouch] all internal product and lifestyle shoots, leveraging our in-house photography equipment and studio
  • Partner with our Senior Copywriter on ensuring the Byte brand voice and tone are clearly and consistently expressed in every asset and deliverable
  • Collaborate with the creative team, marketing leadership, digital/e-commerce team, and other internal teams across the conception, development, refinement, and execution of creative that delivers on the overall creative brief and strategic and business objectives
  • Manage the visual design process, ensuring all projects and assets are well-planned, creatively exceptional, delivered on-time and within budget
  • Present creatively approved concepts, assets, and designs to internal cross-functional teams, leadership, and external partners with enthusiasm, clarity and efficiency
  • Guide, mentor, and inspire junior and mid-level designers to creatively grow, improve, succeed, and advance toward collective and individual goals
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external photographers, filmmakers, illustrators, designers, and agencies, working strategically to ensure the strongest approach to and output of content
  • Maintain an open, collaborative, positive, and inclusive work environment
  • Required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned

Requirements and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as an Art Director [design background] or Senior Designer at an advertising agency, digital agency, design studio, or in-house creative team
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A strong portfolio of relevant work, exhibiting a background and fluency in branding, digital, print, packaging, social, and editorial design
  • Deep knowledge and expertise in all aspects of graphic design, color theory, grids, layout, typography, identity, packaging design and materials, digital, social, and creative production and publishing across formats and platforms
  • Experience partnering and creatively collaborating with e-commerce teams, ensuring cohesive creative output of the highest quality
  • Photo and video production experience with a deep understanding of process, best practices, how to best partner with external production partners, and demonstrated on-set leadership in giving direction, adjusting, and navigating obstacles and challenges as they arise
  • Proficiency in all relevant design software, including but not limited to Adobe Creative Cloud [Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom, XD-familiarity with Dimension, Premiere Pro, and After Effects are a plus], Sketch, Figma, Keynote, G Suite applications, etc.
  • Experience across a variety of industries and verticals with the ability to bridge a connection between business needs, creative vision, and consumer interests
  • Thorough understanding of today's creative landscape and how people and consumers engage with content from digital to physical products, environments, and experiences
  • Astute attention to detail and meticulous organizational skills in service of your creative projects
  • Ability to collaborate with and creatively manage external agency relationships
  • Excellent verbal and visual communication skills; adept at communicating and defending creative work
  • A positive mentality with proven ability to flex and adapt to changing business needs while maintaining creative quality
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with proactive approach to identifying and acting on ways to improve the work, continually pushing the vision of the Byte brand forward
