Senior Assistant Engineer, 5G/4G Field/IOT Test (Onsite position)

What You’ll Do

Samsung SOC R&D Lab in San Diego is looking for Senior Assistant Engineer – 5G/4G Field/IOT Test with hands on field/IOT test expertise. Candidate will join a team of passionate engineers with start-up spirit to test and debug Samsung’s world-class cellular modem solution. The candidate is expected to bring innovation and strong execution skills to the cellular group for IOT and Field Certification and Performance test.

• Participate in daily test activities in the IOT labs/field locations including training IOT/field test contractors.
• Support all IOT/field test and basic log analysis for IOT/field, regression, milestone and performance test activities for all US carriers (including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile).
• Responsible for IOT/field test execution and tracking of issues to full resolution and closure.
• Compile and send summary test reports to outline current status and to communicate any critical issues.
• Strong communications skills and cross-functional collaboration needed

What You Bring

• Bachelors with 2+ years’ relevant experience or M.S. with 1+ years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience in mobile device testing/failure analysis in IOT lab/field for at least 1-2 years.
• Experience with any of the DFIT, F4L or PDC tests is highly desired.
• Basic knowledge of LTE/5G NR NSA/SA including signaling, IMS and data call flow concepts.
• Ability to test and track field issues end to end by collaborating with modem quality organization.
• Ability to work in a team environment with cross-functional coordination and challenging schedules.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• This is a fully onsite position requiring about 40-50% travel and flexibility for shifts systems as needed to support IOT/Field testing.
• Previous experience of 5G NR technology is preferred.
• Familiarity with US IOT/field testing procedure is a plus.
• Preferred degrees in Electronics, Communication, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications
• BS + 0 years of exp
• Work Environment: The position will require work indoors and outdoors and will be exposed to seasonal weather changes and conditions while working outdoors.  When working indoors, the individual will be exposed to typical temperature and noise levels maintained in an office environment.
• The physical demands of the job will include repetitive motions, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, sitting, pulling, lifting, pushing, carrying, walking, being in static position and driving.  The position will require the individual to be able to lift up to 25 lbs. up to 1/3 of the time during a work day.
