Your Opportunity
The role of the Senior Associate position is to work as a member of the Smart(ER) Mobility Team on advanced, highly-complex professional planning, policy, and research/data-driven activities at the nexus of mobility and technology with an initial focus on electric vehicles. The applicant will have subject-matter expertise in issues such as transportation/mobility/infrastructure, innovation, telecommunications, data management, future of work, and sharing policies/practices, and processes for deployment of emerging technologies, including autonomous and connected vehicles, 5G networks, connected infrastructure, micromobility/dockless and demand responsive platforms. The Senior Associate will serve as a task lead for work related to zero emission vehicles with a focus on electric vehicles, including the build-out of a national strategy for identifying, proposing, and winning work that aligns with Smart(ER) Mobility and Stantec strategy.

Bachelor's degree (in Planning, Public/Urban Policy, Economics, or Geography). Master's degree in Business or Public Administration or a doctorate/terminal degree preferred. 10 years of experience working in the planning, legislative, policy, research or transportation engineering field. Experience working with public sector entities and agencies preferred.

Your Opportunity

Your Key Responsibilities
- Develop a strategy for a national practice around zero emission vehicles that merges the policy, planning, data analysis, and infrastructure projects completed by Stantec.
- Focus on growing and establishing an interdisciplinary practice for zero emission vehicles, with an initial focus on electrification, including infrastructure deployment, siting, and state and local coordination.
- Lead and manage pursuits around zero emissions vehicles, with an initial focus on electric vehicles, with support from Smart(ER) Mobility team.
- Support completion of projects focused on zero emission vehicles, leveraging teams across Stantec.
- Support strategic hires in key geographies and in target markets to support implementation of strategy and completion of zero emission vehicles work.
- Support policy and research activities while considering and promoting the broader doctrine that is core to the Smart Mobility Team - supporting a more holistic, community minded and people focused approach to mobility. This includes work associated with Mobility Hubs, Connected and Automated Vehicles, and Unmanned Aerial Systems.
- In coordination with Mobility Policy Principal, work with state and local government agencies to develop and implement work plans and long-term strategies for addressing policy challenges specific to mobility and technology in communities.
- Assist Smart(ER) Mobility Team in identifying and developing content for blog postings and other Stantec thought leadership initiatives.
- Represent Stantec at different conferences and meetings in order to build new partnerships and raise the visibility of the firm's work and deliver presentations on Stantec zero emissions work and strategy.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Thorough knowledge of transportation and telecommunications policy and comprehensive understanding of transportation funding mechanisms at the federal, state and local levels.
- Thorough knowledge and project management experience on projects focused on mobility and innovation, including electric vehicles, automated and connected vehicles, and unmanned aerial systems.
- Principles and practices of supervision, training and personnel management, including ability to lead project teams and manage pursuits.
- Knowledge of recent developments, current literature and sources of information, including all guidance released by USDOT, related to zero emission vehicles.
- Familiarity with citizen involvement and stakeholder engagement techniques and processes.
- Experience working with state DOTs, DMVs, municipalities, counties, transportation agencies and regional planning agencies is preferred.
