This position is hybrid - Tuesday - Thursday in the New York Office and Monday and Friday work from home.

The Senior Associate, Investment Accounting & Reporting position is responsible for coordination of reporting and analysis of the investment results. Performs a variety of duties including reporting of the Investments within NY Life's investment portfolios on Statutory basis, financial performance reporting, and understanding and implementing investment accounting policy, and reporting of various analyses. In this capacity, the role ensures that all relevant reporting is accurate and compliant with internal and external accounting policies and standards/regulations. The role also provides financial analysis that explains and supports the reported results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, analyze, and review financial reporting deliverables of NY Life's Investment portfolio including Senior Management reporting, Investment Committee reporting, rating agency surveys, Statutory Blue Books and Statutory Notes/Disclosures.
  • Review and/or manage day-to-day responsibilities of self and direct reports/Accenture
  • Review financial reporting for internal (Controller, CFO, Business Units and Investment Committee) and external (Regulatory) clients.
  • Take initiative to assist team in all capacities including the training and guidance of staff/Accenture
  • Interact with Internal Audit and PwC to ensure compliance to investment accounting policies.
  • Coordinate and liaise with shared services on the preparation and delivery of investment related data
  • Ensure SOX compliance including developing, documenting, testing, and reviewing controls and procedures.
  • Implement and maintain Investment Accounting Policy in accordance with Statutory standards/regulations. Involved in decisions and communication regarding new accounting pronouncements and implementation impact.
  • Opportunity to interact with senior management and work on ad-hoc and special projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of five to seven years of experience in accounting and reporting roles
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to work independently and co-supervise staff in a highly productive environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with various levels of management, direct reports, internal customers and auditors
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Team oriented. Awareness and desire to help. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and shift priorities as necessary
  • Knowledge of Insurance and investments is preferred
  • Big four experience is preferred
  • CPA is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, SAP, Sharepoint, Wdesk (preferred)

Salary range: $90,000-$135,000
