Senior Associate - Platform Reliability Engineer - Cloud Technology

Location Designation: Hybrid - 3 days per quarter

New York Life is seeking an experienced and skilled Cloud Reliability Engineer that will be a member of the Cloud Services team and drive cross-functional technology for delivering projects on an IaaS platform to meet critical technology and business requirements. This opportunity provides the right individual an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a growing cloud platform, with new emerging technologies that support New York Life's cloud journey.

The individual should be well versed in infrastructure as code practices using Terraform and 4+ years Cloud experience.

• Automate and deliver repeatable, reliable solutions using tools like Terraform, GitHub, Jenkins
• Aid with application implementations on AWS
• Automate remediation of platform defects and security vulnerabilities
• Participate in monthly production platform releases
• Review and identify IaaS issues or concerns
• Interpret and advise on usage to optimize and maximize utilization of deployed resources to reduce spend
• Drive automation to replace manual operations and existing processes
• Provide Production Support for Cloud Platform and Cloud Platform related incidents.
• Collaborate with Cloud Architects and Solution Engineers to deliver solutions and projects.
• Encourage collaboration between teams
• Must be self-directed and willing to learn new tools and services to stay up to date with our evolving platforms
• Ability to communicate to non-technical and technical resources

Required Skills:

• 6+ yrs of overall IT experience
• 4+ yrs with Cloud (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) services and platforms, AWS & Azure
• 3+ yrs of automating solutions and implementation of highly scalable, highly available services
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Executive presence with high business & technical acumen
• Strong facilitation skills for large-scale events and workshops
• Solid understanding/experience with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) process
• Ability to work directly with business stakeholders and technical/product teams.
• Must have AWS Solution Architect or Sys Ops certification.

Desired Skills:

• Solid understanding of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
• Versed in infrastructure as code practices using Terraform
• Public cloud provider experience (AWS certification a plus)
• Practical understanding of infrastructure technologies - compute, network, storage
• Ability to relate to software engineering challenges and practices
• Working knowledge of DevOps and delivery tools (GitHub), Jenkins
• Practical knowledge of coding practices (such as python, .Net, C#, Java)
• Ability to be self-directed, a good team player and capacity for effective time management
• Solid background in Cloud Service provider product offerings - AWS, Azure

Education:

• Hashicorp Terraform certifications a plus.

• Bachelor's degree in related field is a plus, but not required

Salary range: $105,000-$160,000
