About This Role

HI-Bio, Inc., a Biogen company is seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate Scientist (SAS) with a background in antibody engineering to drive the discovery and validation of novel therapeutic targets in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.

What You Will Do

  • Directly contribute to the workflow for antibody construct design, expression, and purification to support discovery programs. 
  • Perform assays to assess biophysical properties, developability and basic in vitro biological function to characterize antibody drug candidates and support lead selection and optimization.
  • Contribute to outsourcing of plasmid construction and protein characterization and manage CROs as needed to complement in-house workflows.
  • Contribute to HI-Bio discovery programs by developing novel and innovative therapeutic strategies to address autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.

This position is Hybrid based and travel to our San Francisco office on a regular basis. Candidates must be within a commutable distance to be considered.

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in biology, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or related scientific field with 2-4 years of Pharmaceutical or Biotech industry experience.
  • Hands-on experience with protein expression, and purification from mammalian cell culture is required.
  • Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement in protein sciences as demonstrated by publications, patents, or pipeline contributions.

Preferred Skills 

  • Experience with research-stage biophysical characterization for developability and/or basic assay development with in vitro cellular assays using cell lines or primary cells is preferred.
  • Familiarity with bispecific antibody design and characterization, mast cell biology or immune mediated diseases is considered a plus.

Our team in San Francisco is specifically focused on transforming the lives of patients with severe immune-mediated diseases by developing novel targeted therapies with outsized clinical impact, faster. To accomplish this, we are seeking top talent to join us on our journey. 

The base compensation range for this role is $72,200 - $97,500. Base salary is determined by a combination of factors including, but not limited to, job related years of relevant experience, internal equity, and location of the job. Additionally, this role is eligible for participation in Biogen’s LTI grants and other incentive programs.
