Senior Associate Scientist I

How you’ll make an impact:

Contribute to the development and characterization of manufacturing processes for T-cell-based therapies and development of various T-cell therapy products, including chimeric antigen receptor T-cells (CAR-T) and engineered T-cell receptors (TCR), that may be early pre-clinical or clinical stage products!

You'd be part of our amazing Technical Development Operations team! 

How you’ll spend your time:

Perform laboratory experiments involving media and buffer preparation, primary human immune cell isolation, genetic modification (viral transduction and/or electroporation), cell expansion, and cryopreservation. Perform cell assays including multi-color flow cytometry and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Apply statistical and data visualization techniques to tease out process and biological complexities. Author, review, and maintain accurate and up to date records including experimental databases, production batch records, laboratory notebooks, quality facing reports, and technology transfer documentation. Represent cellular process development group in discussions facilitating technology transfer to external collaborators (CMOs/CDMOs). Perform general laboratory tasks, including maintenance of laboratory equipment, personnel scheduling, and scheduled laboratory cleans. Position requires a minimum of 50-75% on-site lab work at Cambridge, MA office. Remaining time allows for telecommuting.

Who you are and what you’ve accomplished:

Requires a Master’s degree in Cell Biology, Bioengineering, Immunology, or a related field plus two (2) years of experience in the cell therapy industry. Experience may be gained concurrently and must include:

Two (2) years in each of the following:
- Applying understanding of general laboratory techniques related to tissue culture, cell biology, or bioprocessing
- Utilizing Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook) to author, review, revise, and present scientific data or reports

One (1) year in each of the following:
- Working with lentiviral vector and human biological samples
- Working with mammalian cell culture in static expansion bags or rocking bioreactor platforms
- Multi-tasking and prioritization under shifting business needs and in highly matrixed teams
- Performing statistical analysis, data visualization, and design of experiments (DoE)
- Working with biological assays such as via flow cytometry, PCR, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), or similar biological assays

Will accept a Bachelor’s degree plus four (4) years of described experience.
