Job Description

The Strategic Finance team at Hudson River Trading (HRT) is responsible for financial planning & analysis, firm strategy, and corporate development. We’re looking for a Senior Associate with an interest in financial technology, capital markets, financial analysis, and strategy to join our team. We work closely with other teams at HRT to analyze business opportunities, improve processes, and interact with external parties.Ā 

ResponsibilitiesĀ Ā 

Strategy:Ā 

  • Develop solutions to key strategic and operational issues
  • Contribute to and build analytical frameworks and conduct complex business analysis
  • Structure work plans and project scope to optimizeĀ  impact on high priority issues
  • Present recommendations and lead discussions with all levels of management
  • Synthesize inputs, identify critical insights, and develop compelling recommendations for both internal and external audiences

Financial Planning & Analysis:Ā 

  • Contribute to analysis for presentations delivered to senior management
  • Contribute to capital modeling for regular forecast updates and strategic initiatives
  • Assist in analyzing monthly/quarterly results, including monitoring variances, identifying trends, andĀ  recommending actions to management

Corporate Development & Special Projects:Ā Ā 

  • Assist in review of potential new investments (HRT Ventures), including research into new markets and industry trends, financial modeling, returns analysis, and company valuation
  • Perform external market research and develop sector expertise to assist in identifying and sourcing new deals for potential investment
  • Ad-hoc projects for senior management

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of work experience at a top tier investment bank, consulting firm, or a similar corporate strategy role
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • A high level of complex, conceptual problem-solving ability
  • Strong analytical/quantitative and technical abilities, organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of financial services and capital markets a plus
  • BA/BS in finance or a related fieldĀ 
  • Familiarity with computer programming (Python, SQL a plus)Ā 

Annual base salary range of $100,000 to $150,000. Pay (base and bonus) may vary depending on job-related skills and experience. A sign-on and discretionary performance bonus may be provided as part of the total compensation package, in addition to company-paid medical and/or other benefits.
