Position: Senior Automation Engineer
Job Location: 603 Munger Ave, STE 400, Dallas, TX, 75202
Duties: Leverage data analysis tools to explore moderately complex data, develops and tests hypotheses, uses data to influence strategic work, and builds and presents insights. Identifies, implements, and drives technology change within scope of work. Uses visualization tools to represent data and construct coherent stories to influence decisions. Interpret information to quantify the anticipated outcome of supply chain decisions. Describes the typical tasks associated with using and managing suppliers. Understand issues and considerations for inbound and outbound logistics. Describes basic logistical processes and subprocesses. Use a variety of business process design tools and techniques. Examine, interpret, and explain workflow materials and documentation. Analyze a process and associated business logic and offers recommendations based on analysis. Carry out business process design tasks with some supervision and coaching. Document common obstacles and barriers for effective implementation. Support the development of business cases and recommendations. Own the delivery of project activity and tasks assigned by others. Support process updates and changes. Solve simple business issues. Demonstrate functional knowledge of the business unit/organization being supported. Organizes thoughts and communicates confidently, credibly, and concisely within scope of work. Present to and influence team and business partners, conveying messages through a basic understanding of the relevant context. Utilize relevant data and fact-based information to articulate results and provide recommendations in a structured manner. Actively listen to others, seek, and provide constructive feedback, and provide ideas/recommendations on processes. Proactively build a personal network. Seek help to implement ideas for process improvement for the group. Identify the main processes for which the group is responsible. Demonstrate the ability to describe the interrelationships among elements of a system or process. Apply the concept of continuous improvement to identify opportunities for greater efficiency. Understand and explain principles of continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen. Describe the concepts behind engineering economics and the implications of financial data. Understand the drivers of cost. Identify major types of financial data utilized by the organization. Explain how financial data is ace sed and the types of information used in engineering. Understand how to develop a business case. Identify the areas for usage of automation machineries. Assess tasks for automation potential. Obtain information about alternative automation solutions. Assist with analyzing space and cost requirements associated with machinery usage. Identify issues and provide resolutions to problems related to automation machineries. Identify common issues and considerations for bringing a new automation design to a facility. Work with teams to measure and manage project performance. Document implementation plans and estimates for projects. Document project implementation meetings, particularly status reports on next steps. Participate in the development of technology interfaces and bridges. Work with existing interfaces and integration and migration plans within assigned area. Prepare integration tests. Measure and compare results with established test criteria.
Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field plus 2 years of experience in supply chain, or related area OR 4 years of experience in supply chain, or related area.
Skills required: Must have experience with: Data Acquisition, Cleaning, Analysis and Visualization Using Data Analysis Software (Excel, Tableau and Power BI); Develop and Maintain Excel VBA Programs for Customized Applications; 2D / 3D CAD Software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks to Build, Update and Analyze Equipment and Layout Drawings; Model Building for Requirement Definition, Capacity and Throughput Analysis; Design and Develop Various Automated Material Handling Solutions such as AGV and ASRS; Technical Material Handling Solution Implementation and Integration including Commissioning, UAT, FAT, and Solution Acceptance; Design and Improve Material Flow, Process Flow and Floor Layout Using VSM, Spaghetti Diagram, Time Study, Bottleneck Analysis; Project Management Skills (Gantt Chart, Critical Path Analysis, Baselining, Gate Review, Change Management and Risk Management); Engineering Finance and Decision-Making Skills (SWOT Analysis, OKR, CBA and ROI); Problem Solving Skills (Ishikawa Diagram, Pareto Analysis, 5 Whys, FMEA. Continuous Improvement Methods Including Kaizen, 6 Sigma and Lean Principles). Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.
