Senior Automation Engineer Level 2 Systems

Summary
Lead a team of engineers assigned to design, develop, test, deploy and service engineering solutions for modernizations and new installations of Supervisory Process Control (Level-2 Automation) systems for Flat Rolling Mills.

What You'll Do
- Write technical requirements, system specifications for Level-2 systems
- Provide technical leadership to design, develop, test, deploy and maintain Level-2 systems based on project requirements, SMS group standards and similar reference projects
- Collaborate with individuals and teams in the engineering department, with SMS teams located world-wide, as well as, with customers and suppliers to provide engineering solutions on technical and project-related matters
- Work with the Sales team in writing and presenting technical proposals for customers
- Commission Level-2 systems at customer site
- Train customer's personnel on the use and management of the Level-2 system
- Service existing Level-2 systems remotely or onsite
- Specify, install, configure and manage software development tools and computing resources
What You'll Need
Must Have:
- Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, System Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Material Science or related fields
- 5+ years of experience in building software for manufacturing automation systems
- Ability to write organized, legible, testable and efficient software
- Experience in C# / .NET Framework programming in Visual Studio environment
- Experience with modern software development methodologies (e.g., Agile), best practices, and tools
- Understanding of modular system architectures and domain-driven design
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work with little guidance toward a defined goal
- Willing to travel to customer sites located in American geographical region to support project-related activities
- Authorized to work in the United States and be willing to undergo a background check, in accordance with local laws/regulations
Preferably, experience in:
- Engineering or servicing of manufacturing automation systems used in the metals industry, for flat rolling in particular
- Leading a team of software developers
- Entity Framework, WPF or Web development stack (HTML, JavaScript)
- Relational database management and application development
- Distributed teams and source code management (e.g. Git)
