Senior AWS Engineer
Job Description
The Senior AWS Engineer is responsible for:
- Creating, maintaining, and evolving the AWS cloud infrastructure environment in support of mission-critical business and technology services.
- Serving as a technical advisor, subject matter expert, and mentor on the effective use of technology in supporting cost efficient solutions that meet the needs of Onyx CenterSource clients and its customers.
- Collaborating with various globally distributed teams to evolve and maintain the infrastructure, partnering with Architects, Developers, QA, and other Infrastructure team members to deliver capabilities and solutions in an agile manner and provide leadership and knowledge sharing of related processes.
Responsibilities:
- Implement, maintain, grow, and support the AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Build, release, and manage the configuration of AWS technology systems and services.
- Collaborate with others to design, and implement scalable, cost-effective technical solutions supporting business objectives and consistent with FinOps and DevOps best practices and standards.
- Educate and mentor others in the use of current and emerging technology through documentation, demos, collaboration, and targeted educational sessions.
- Design and deploy lifecycle management processes to ensure ongoing and timely updates to maximize system efficiency and maintain the currency of components while minimizing downtime of services.
- Understand and ensure required system security by leveraging best-in-class cloud security solutions.
- Develop, maintain, test, and implement disaster recovery procedures.
- Design and implement automation using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl) to manage AWS services, with an eye toward efficiency and maximizing utilization of existing resources.
- Leverage the Well-Architected Framework to enhance security, and improve performance, cost-effectiveness, reliability, and ease of support in the AWS environment.
- Configure, build, and monitor secure network solutions, leveraging cross-region and cross-account functional knowledge.
- Serve as a Tier 3/4 support engineer, responding to incidents, performing root cause analysis, and remediating problems.
- Oversee pre-production acceptance testing to ensure the high quality of a company's services and products
- Implement and manage the continuous integration and delivery systems and methodologies on AWS.
- Periodic travel required (< 10% - depending on priorities).
Minimum Qualifications
- A college degree in Information Technology is preferred.
- 5-10 years of experience in Technology with at least 4-5 years of solid experience in AWS infrastructure.
- AWS certifications (Associate or Professional).
- AWS Security and Advanced Networking Specialty Certifications are preferred.

- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and assimilate new information and skills, staying current with new technologies and vendor products, and evaluating and recommending fitness.
- Solid understanding of cloud / virtual computing platforms and their supporting infrastructure, as well as specific AWS experience in a large-scale, high-volume, multi-account environment.
- Experience and self-sufficiency with AWS-specific competencies including, but not limited to, EC2 instances, Elastic Beanstalk, Lambdas, API Gateway, CloudFormation, IAM Identity Center, and deployment of serverless endpoints.
- Experience with the AWS Well-Architected Tool and AWS Migration Services.
- Experience with build tools, like Jenkins, for deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting of system resources in an AWS environment.
- Familiarity with the concepts of infrastructure as code, test-driven development, and automated deployment/recovery of infrastructure solutions.
- The ability to prioritize, be flexible, and perform multiple tasks simultaneously is critical.
- Self-starter requiring minimal to no direct supervision.
- Exhibits qualities of integrity, honesty, optimism, confidentiality, discretion, flexibility, adaptability, and patience coupled with high energy.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
