Business/Technology Summary

The Foundational Business at New York Life provides life insurance and investment products to our customers through a network of over 12,000 licensed agents. Technology and digital are central to our agent, customer and employee needs and as these evolve our technology organization is transforming rapidly.

The Foundational Business is embarking on a significant digital evolution which demands robust digital capabilities and connected data. Over the next few years, key outcomes will include:

• Expanding our wealth management capabilities enabling broader advice and guidance value to our customers
• Delivering "Find an Agent" digital marketing capabilities through our web platform
• Providing advanced client finding and solution modeling tools to our agents
• Aiding our field managers with modern agent recruiting and management tools
• Improving customer self-service capabilities and investing in the customer service representative desktop of the future
• Modernizing our policy and administration and agent compensation platforms

Additionally, enterprise-wide technology initiatives including our Group Benefits System integration, general ledger modernization, cloud transformation and enterprise Data Hub will impact the Foundational Business over the coming years.

Role Summary

The Corporate Vice President, Senior Azure Engineer is a critical position that is at the center of the business and technology transformation. The role will proactively and holistically engage with key business leaders, Technology leaders, and Value Stream architects in leading and supporting cloud architecture activities and decisions that guide the development and management of technical and associated cloud infrastructure solutions. These solutions enable the organization's future-state business capabilities and drive the organization's targeted business outcomes.

Documents, visualizes, and articulates overall technical health, current and target states of Enterprise Architecture, in collaboration with senior leadership at an enterprise level. Leads the development of roadmaps with senior leadership for a targeted domain / function, and connects them with the broader Enterprise technology landscape, including alignment to industry Enterprise Architecture standards, building a pathway to achieve target state goals.

This position will interface with senior leaders and various technical SMEs. It will require excellent communication skills along with a strong knowledge of new and emerging technology trends, such as Azure, M365, Microsoft Copilot, and the practical application of those trends for strategic use.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsibilities include collaborating with internal teams to manage processes/integrations with Microsoft Azure and Office 365 SAAS platforms, and assess/plan future direction in the System collaboration infrastructure in Azure.
• Deliver solutions in an Agile environment with other Engineers, developers (DEVOps) and Product Owners to scope, develop, engineer, and provide support for one or more of the C4Es.
• Drive the planning and design of strategic initiatives that require architecture oversight and guidance
• Engineer and deliver OpenAI related solution services within the NYL Azure platform
• Lead/collaborate with internal teams on Intune MDM (Conditional Access), and Modern Workplace, O365 Security and Compliance, Collaboration services and Microsoft Purview implementation
• Perform scoping, planning, design, and technical documentation to deliver complex enterprise solutions in Microsoft 365 with integration in Azure.
• Perform engineering design and deployment of Graph API app integrations, registrations, and support business automation/optimization efforts.
• Research, understand and apply existing, new, and emerging technologies and trends to determine their potential impact on technology domains.
• Translate the enterprise's technology future-state architecture vision into principles, guidelines, standards, and patterns to ensure alignment with broader strategic goals
• Support delivery of Azure integration with Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, and MS Teams engineering teams
• Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite.
• Own and drive the Enterprise Architecture governance process and influence decision making for senior technology leaders by leveraging research and fact-based recommendations for various domains

Experience

• 5 or more years of experience in developing and integrating applications using relevant software architecture principles and patters
• 5 or more years' experience architecting and delivering O365 solutions (Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams)
• Broad technical experience and understanding of multiple disciplines, including Hybrid Cloud architecture approaches, Azure IaaS, PaaS, container strategy, serverless compute, storage, migration approaches, FinOps, and Cloud automation
• Experience with automation and orchestration, infrastructure and operations, enterprise integration, application architecture, cybersecurity architecture with respect to Hybrid Cloud and external hosting best practice.
• Experience in utilizing architectural frameworks and working with enterprise architecture tools
• Experience with Graph API, Power Apps and Automation
• Work experience in software engineering, software delivery and solution architecture.

Required Skills

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert Certifications (highly desired)
• Excellent Customer Service skills - Can convey complex and technical issues to diverse audiences, orally and in writing, in a manner that is easily understood, authoritative, and actionable for the business; actively listens to peers' input.
• Experience with automation and orchestration, infrastructure and operations, enterprise integration, application architecture, cybersecurity architecture with respect to Hybrid Cloud and external hosting best practice.
• Must be able to collaborate effectively with other senior architects, support personnel and SN Managers within the organization
• Experience delivering enterprise grade solutions in O365
• Experience in utilizing architectural frameworks and working with enterprise architecture tools
• Experience with Microsoft Copilots
