Senior Backend Engineer

Tava Health is a venture-backed, online mental health platform that partners with employers to provide convenient, high-quality, accessible mental health resources to employees and their dependents. We also provide therapists with powerful tools to build their practices and careers. Our mission is to improve mental health through frictionless, technology-enabled care, and break down the barriers of therapy by making mental health checkups as routine as other healthcare practices.

We're seeking an experienced backend engineer whose passion for development is rivaled only by a passion for mission-based work. You'll have the opportunity to build deeply integrated experiences to support features like live video sessions, payments and billing, smart therapist suggestions, and much more. This work will improve the quality of thousands of lives, and that's work worth doing.

Responsibilities

• Write APIs to support a broad set of client, therapist, and administrative features in several applications
• Build integrations with 3rd parties to support payments, live sessions, billing, payments, etc
• Build telemetry to capture product usage data to improve our products
• Model data effectively in a quickly expanding data architecture
• Periodically invest in security- and privacy-related improvements
• Manage and build upon our application infrastructure
• Infuse all of your work with empathy, security, and quality to produce high-quality experiences

Requirements

• Ability to self-start, move fast, and work through ambiguity in a fast-moving environment
• Effective collaboration with frontend engineers, product managers, data scientists, behavioral health specialists, and others
• Willingness and ability to learn new technologies and processes that may be out of your comfort zone
• Empathy for everyone you affect: patients, clinicians, coworkers, and yourself
• Proactive and consistent improvement of the security of our systems
• Clear and efficient technical writing and thought to communicate complex ideas
• A bachelor's degree in computer science or the equivalent, with at least 5 years of backend experience
