Senior Backend Engineer (Golang and Python) - Content

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join Vio.com 's Content team and help us to give our users the most helpful, high-quality, and unique holistic Hotel Content, to help them find the best deal.

We are working with a modern stack consisting of Go, Python, AWS (ElasticCache, StepFunctions, EC2, S3, etc), DBT, Snowflake, Spark,Terraform, and more. We process large amounts of data daily and integrate with many suppliers. Content and mapping products are a core part of Vio.com's platform allowing us to offer the best possible comparison and offer to every traveller, worldwide. Hence, anything that you will develop and ship on production will have an immediate effect on our users and on our business performance. We work in a flexible, results-oriented, and customer-centric team structure, focusing on shipping value in a collaborative fashion, with hopefully just the right amount of bureaucracy.

What you will do

• Work in a team to solve challenging problems, build and maintain products to help bring our travellers the best deals available in the market.

•  Identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvements regarding performance, reliability, and code quality.

•  Write design documents and participate in architecture meetings with the team, having the goal of future-proof the team's applications.

•  Knowledge sharing: Mentor and support less experienced engineers.

• Help to improve our infrastructure and scale it to support our growth in a cost-effective way.

• You will report to the Engineering Manager of the squad.

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Who you are

• You have at least 5 years of experience in backend development.

• You have experience with at least two programming languages such as Go, Python, Java or Scala, or Ruby. Experience with Golang or Python is a plus.

• You have experience with designing, developing, and shipping highly scalable software.

• You have experience working with data products and setting up data pipelines. Data processing using Spark is a plus.

• You have experience with distributed systems.

• You have experience with AWS, Terraform, and CI/CD tools.

• You write tests as part of your coding routine.

• You are familiar with Agile Methodologies.

•  You treat documentation as a first-class citizen.
