Guild is hiring Senior Backend Software Engineer who will play a vital role as a proficient technical leader in the Communications domain. We aim to scale our communication capabilities, enhance integration, and ensure more effective engagement with our members. By establishing a robust communication foundation, we aim to impact our marketing, coaching, and product teams significantly.
We build our systems using Python, React, AWS serverless services, database technologies (Postgres, No SQL), and event-driven architecture. Experience with those is a huge plus, but familiarity with other languages, API protocols, and databases works for us! We look for engineers who build with simplicity, reliability, and scalability.
As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you will:
- Collaborate with a team of engineers building high-quality software products for our members and the teams that engage with them.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, especially marketing and coaching, to effectively engage our members. This will involve understanding business requirements and implementing solutions that align with marketing, coaching, and Guild technology strategies.
- Build software solutions using Python, React, and AWS serverless technologies.Â
- Design and develop event-driven solutions, leveraging technologies such as message queues, event-driven frameworks, and asynchronous processing to ensure scalability and responsiveness.
- Proactively engage with the team whether gathering requirements, choosing technology, deploying a solution to production, or participating in day-to-day activities via our agile sprints, daily standups, planning, and retros.
- Mentor other engineers on our team and share your expertise while solving sophisticated problems or pair programming collaboratively.
- Work closely with our product team to ensure that project plans, stories, and estimates are accurate and ensure that features delivered meet requirements and are delivered on-time.
- Continue to build new features and maintain existing Guild software programs, often integrating multiple internal systems and third-party APIs.
- Write simple, clean, and maintainable code.
In addition to the mentioned responsibilities, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of our Member Communication Squad and play a key role in enabling our Marketing teams to thrive.
You are a strong fit for this role if you have:
- A long history of being a teammate people trust and love working with.
- 5+ years of engineering experience with a relevant degree or experience.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience with the aforementioned tools and technologies: Python, React, AWS serverless services, database technologies (Postgres, No SQL), and event-driven architecture.
- Demonstrated curiosity and interest in keeping up and experimenting with new technologies.
- Willingness to embrace change and work within a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for higher education and our mission.
- Something else? Wonderful, we’re curious to learn more about you!
We feel passionately about equal pay for equal work, and transparency in compensation is one vehicle to achieve that. Total compensation for this role is market-driven, including a base salary range of $155,000-$180,000, as well as company stock options.
