The ideal candidate will possess both health & welfare and retirement plan benefits experience including wellbeing program support, vendor management and benefit plan project implementations. We are seeking an individual that is collaborative, innovative, creative, and adaptable to change.
The Sr. Benefits Consultant is responsible for management of our holistic wellbeing programs and strategy, various benefits plan project support and implementations, and developing CNA's employee benefit plan communications and engagement strategy in partnership with CNA's benefit plan vendors and internal communications team. Additionally, they are responsible for the operational support of CNA's benefit plans, resolving day-to-day complex participant escalations, researching benefit plan data issues, and serving as a liaison with our CNA Employee Resource Groups.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
- Development of CNA's holistic wellbeing strategy in collaboration with benefit department directors.
- Developing and executing CNA's annual enrollment project plan including system testing, requirements documentation and plan change implementation with benefits administration vendor and health plan TPAs.
- Development and execution of all CNA's benefit plan communications and engagement strategy including annual enrollment, benefits website and intranet. Liaison to Corporate Communication team.
- Responsible for day-to-day vendor management of CNA's wellbeing vendors including Virgin Pulse and Beacon Health. Provide support in vendor management of CNA's health and welfare, ancillary benefit and retirement plan providers.
- Partners with CNA's various Employee Resource Groups to collaborate on benefits-related programming and align on wellbeing initiatives. Captures feedback on our benefit programming and ensures benefits communications and changes align with CNA's DEI strategy.
- Management of CNA's tuition management and service award programs including vendor management and strategy development.
- Management of CNA's ancillary benefit programs including paid time off, discount program, voluntary benefit plans and transit program including vendor management and strategy development.
- Project management and implementation of major benefit plan initiatives such as platform upgrades, plan design changes, new program launches, etc.
- Resolve participant issues that are escalated externally from vendor partners and internally from HR Business Partners and the HR Connect team.
- Liaison for Talent Acquisition team responsible for updating candidate and new hire communication materials and modules.
- Coordinate ongoing review and updates of CNA's benefit plan Summary Plan Descriptions with internal SMEs and vendor partners.

Skills Knowledge and Abilities
- Technical knowledge of benefit plan practices and applicable laws.
- Strong background with managing outsourced benefit plan administrators
- Experience in developing benefit plan communications
- Strong ability to partner with other HR functions such as payroll, HRBPs and talent acquisition
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Workday, as well as other business related software
- Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work with and maintain confidential information
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree required
- Professional designation such as CEBS or CBP preferred
- Minimum of 7 years of experience working with employee benefit plans or related human resources field
