Location: Remote/Hybrid if local to Maryland

We are seeking a Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Developer who will work across business and technical teams to develop quality requirements and data reports using IBM Cognos software and dashboards.

Responsibilities:

• Provides technical expertise and guidance in the areas of data modeling, dashboard creation, and information development while ensuring compliance with government and public sector regulations and standards Model data and metadata to support ad-hoc and pre-built reporting.
• Builds relational & multi-dimensional reports and framework models using IBM Cognos software.
• Performs Cognos administration duties, security implementation, and server configuration.
• Accountable for managing the Cognos reporting team and deliverable schedule.
• Performs research and effective diagnosis of clients' issues.
• Understands the benefits of using state-of-the-art methods and tools and their application on a particular engagement.
• Contributes to the continuous development of methods and tools.
• Responsible for the distribution of work assignments for their team as well as workload management within their team.
• Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for code modifications and enhancements.
• Support the team with automated techniques to gather and clean data from disparate databases, making it suitable for analysis.

Requirements

Required Skills:

• Skilled in Business Analytics, SQL, Oracle Database and Data Analysis.
• In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework
• Expert in Data Modelling, data staging, SQL and Cognos report development.
• Experience in creating scripts for data comparisons and automated validations of reports for anomalies.
• Experience in Analysis, Design and development of complex reports using Cognos.
• Experience in customizing Cognos reports using scripts and finetuning the performance of queries.
• Ability to plan, organize, monitor and control projects to achieve project objectives.
• Ability to interpret and summarize results of various analyses in a timely and meaningful way.
• Ability to effectively direct the work of others.
• Takes ownership of problems and develops sound solutions.
• Has experience in leading a development team and mentoring junior developers.
• Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
• Candidates must have lived in the United States 3 out of the past 5 years

Education:

• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or comparable field
• 8+ years of experience
• Certs: IBM Certified Developer - Cognos
