Senior BI Engineer / Analyst

About You

Goop, Inc. seeks talented and innovative Sr. BI Engineer / Analyst to join our Data Team.  Responsibilities will include leadership in curating a data driven culture, play a key role in implementing, improving, and maintaining Looker as well as helping enable self-service analytics for the company.  You will be working closely with other engineering / data groups as well as departmental leaders across the company.

About The Role

• Lead development and deployment of centralized reports, dashboards, models and tools to analyze and report
• Use effective data visualization and analytical skills to simplify complex business flows and enable faster decision-making and execution
• Data warehouse schema development for web analytics, transaction, finance, operations, inventory data
• Use subject matter expertise to provide decisions on architecture, data modeling, data sourcing, and data quality
• Gather requirements from internal stakeholders, including non-technical teams and then translate into technical specifications for data engineering and BI
• Provide guidance and support to business leaders and stakeholders on how best to harness available data in support of critical business needs and goals
• Champion and implement metric definitions and standards amongst internal stakeholders in different teams as well as building a robust data dictionary in Looker to enable internal stakeholder self service
• Retrieve disparate data and perform exploratory data analysis using SQL in our data warehouse

Qualifications & Experience

• 5+ years of experience as a BI Engineer, BI Analyst, Data Analyst or Data Engineer
• Ability to use Python (or other tools) to perform ad-hoc analytics
• Excellent experience with data visualization tools
• Expert in advanced LookML (e.g., creating models / explores, cache policies and triggers)
• Highly proficient in advanced SQL, Python / R, ETL tool – experience in Airflow preferred
• Must be familiar with using collaboration tools (Git repositories, JIRA version control, etc.)
• Experience explaining technical concepts and analysis clearly to varied audiences and experience translating business objectives into actionable analyses
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
