Donaldson is adding a Senior Biotechnology Engineer to support new initiatives in the Life Sciences arena.

Responsibilities:

• Research and develop technology in the area of membrane filtration and separation for downstream biopharmaceutical production processes
• Establish new testing capability and equipment installation to allow industrial benchmarking for filtration and separation surrounding biopharmaceutical processes
• Lead development of testing procedures, equipment, and methodologies to validate media performance for separation processes in bioproduction
• Sound documentation skills and ability to develop and mature tools and procedures to allow others to be trained on them.
• Research potential benefit of emerging technologies, keeping informed of new methods, techniques, materials, and other technical advances
• Researches and informs team of regulatory requirements impacting development of bioproduction technology - compliance of testing protocols
• Exhibits strong collaborative skills with both business units and academic spaces to gather customer input and assess technological needs
• Shares new knowledge and experience frequently and effectively with other development groups to accelerate technology development.
• Collaborates on analysis, writing and filing of intellectual property.

Minimum Qualifications

• Advanced degree with a focus in Biosystems or Biopharmaceutical Engineering
• 3-plus years related professional engineering work experience is required.
• Experience in bioproduction related to proteins, monoclonal antibodies or other new modalities such as cell and gene therapy
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in test equipment development and operation, and laboratory work.
• Strong knowledge of basic principles in polymer science and filtration required.
• Must have good work attitude, and the ability to work in a team.
• Ability to communicate effectively to small and large groups including senior management.
• Position may require 15% travel; must be able to travel domestically with possible international travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in operation of lab and pilot scale bioprocesses preferred.
